{"id":1307,"date":"2009-05-07T18:51:52","date_gmt":"2009-05-07T18:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nycphantom.com\/journal\/?p=1307"},"modified":"2009-05-07T18:51:52","modified_gmt":"2009-05-07T18:51:52","slug":"turning-wireless-router-into-access-point","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nycphantom.com\/journal\/?p=1307","title":{"rendered":"Turning Wireless Router into Access Point"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nThank's to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dslreports.com\/forum\/remark,13011604\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"WR as AP\">Coulterp<\/a>, I managed to turn the Netgear WGR614 v9 wireless router into an Access Point for a client:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<em><strong>Configure the IP address<\/strong> of the secondary router (the WGR614) to be in<br \/>\nthe same subnet as the primary router (the Belkin), but <strong>out of the<br \/>\nrange<\/strong> of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance if the<br \/>\nDHCP server of the primary router issues addresses 192.168.0.2 -<br \/>\n192.168.0.100, then assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's<br \/>\nIP address.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable the DHCP server <\/strong>in the secondary router (WGR614).<\/p>\n<p>Connect<br \/>\nfrom the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the<br \/>\nsecondary router.
