{"id":21826,"date":"2026-09-15T17:51:27","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T21:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nycphantom.com\/journal\/?p=21826"},"modified":"2026-09-15T17:57:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T21:57:40","slug":"journal-of-the-week-132","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nycphantom.com\/journal\/?p=21826","title":{"rendered":"Journal of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>9\/15\/2026 Tuesday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going to work, the <strong>train conductor remembered I break the fares into two halves<\/strong> (South Amboy - Rahway &amp; Rahway to NY Penn) to save money, so right away after checking my Rahway ticket, he asked me \"So do you have the other half of the ticket that I can scan now?\" So I bought that ticket on the phone in front of him and told him this saves me $ and he immediately acknowledged it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I need to remember this conductor (front first car today), and possibly avoid him LOL (that's both impressive and scary that he would remember my trick - perhaps I am not the only one he knew). Because I could still get away with less fare (if they don't check until after Linden) by an unaware conductor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funny part is, I still managed to swap out the NY Penn unpunched purple receipt he gave me with my \"fixed\" (I once picked up the punched \"8\" from the floor of the train after the conductor punched it out and beat it back into the receipt to make it look like a NY Penn receipt rather than Rahway) old purple receipt.
