William Perkins, considered to be the Father of Puritans.<\/p>\n

Problems within puritans:
\nRichard Baxter, though a puritan, but he was not sound on justification by faith alone.John Eaton was an antinomian.<\/p>\n

\nJohn Winthrop, John Cotton, Thomas Shepard<\/p>\n

Pilgrims = Separatists
\nJohn Winthrop was one of the pilgrim gang who never separated from The Church of England.<\/p>\n

The age of Puritans basically ended with the death of a John Howe in 1703 (1705<\/a>?) where Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) became the transition figure between the puritans and Unitarianism.<\/p>\n

Standing Out according to Beeke:
\nThomas Goodwin's theology is superior to Owen's, Goodwin's works are easy to understand, simple enough for starters.
\nAnthoy Burgess is Beeke's current favorite.
\nJohn Bunyan
\nThomas Brooks? (If I have not misheard)<\/p>\n

What's missing today:
