When I refused, she asked, as if she sincerely cared, that if I couldn't even afford $20. Now this is the second time I was confronted by this sort of business tactic. The first time was when I was trying to buy medicine for my mother's shingles condition.

Not that because people say this, we should reject or accept the offer, but it is the whole motive of asking the question: "Can't you even afford...". In the business world, this is a display of contradiction, or as the Chinese say: Spear and Shield (One who yelled that his spears can penetrate any shields while also claiming that his shields could defend against all spears).

If I couldn't afford it, what are you going to do? Is it really so good that you are going to give it to me for free?

If I could afford it, what then? Is it really that good that I must buy? Would it mean that I couldn't afford it if I refuse to buy? If I refuse to buy a doll, does it mean that I couldn't afford it. If I wish to sell you my street-bought watch for $20, could you afford to buy it?

Therefore, if you are not going to give it to me for free, why ask if I could afford it?

[@more@]

As I came across the Scientology (the atheist religion which Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is a great supporter of) Center on 46th Street, they showed me a 15 minute introductory video (on psychology pertaining to erratic behavior or, "reactive mind" … Continue reading →

[13

post-782","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reflection
["GET
