BaZhang! (\u8089\u7cbd\/\u7cbd\u5b50)<\/p>\n<p>There's this old lady that's always selling Bak Zhang in Chinatown NYC (NW corner of Grand st. &amp; Chrystie st)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/MDuap1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1816\/29960259658_3bd2a3d166_z.jpg\" alt=\"BakZhangLadyinNYCChinatown\" width=\"640\" height=\"454\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My first impression was dirty, probably not healthy. Someone selling food in a basket in the corner of the street, where the homeless sometimes linger.<\/p>\n<p>Then, it turned to compassion.<\/p>\n<p>Then I bought 2. Turns out she had more than 5 varieties (Taiwanese, Shanghai, \u52a0\u6599, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>My wife loved it. Bak Zhang is her favorite. It has sentimental value for her because her both her mother and grandmother made it, from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>Then I bought 3. And then 4. And will buy many more in days to come. They cost only $1.50 each. The Taiwanese type does not have salted egg yolk.
