It is unfortunate, that Redeemer doesn't have a choir like most other evangelical churches. They have all kinds of volunteers but not for the main choir. All major musical roles are for professionals (for hire with pay). As far as I know.
While professionals are definitely a major plus, I believe it is an excuse to call it an outreach to musicians (particularly non-believers) in the neighborhood. Not that one would not see conversions in this manner, but though one is saved (totally God's doing alone), the other might have been cursed.
If there is a way to volunteer for choir, on a frequent basis, it would have been so easy to leave CCCNY choir next year.
I do not want to see Nadia without a choir. I love to see her singing, just seeing, not hearing, is joy to my heart already.
It is an unfortunate thing the way CCCNY choir is handled as well.
By the end of the year, I would remove myself from whatever "position" they have given me at CCCNY choir.
While still able to attend CCCNY choir, I would give my participation of Redeemer choir priority: http://www.redeemer.com/sundays/worship_and_music/use_my_gifts/
