We've got ultrasonic distance measurer, now we have the more accurate but expensive laser ones, how about a parallax distance measurer?

IP Webcam

Those IP Webcam is quite handy, especially the remote pan/tilt ones. Would be an easy setup over the DVR ones. As for quality and results, I do not know.
