After viewing "The Future of Food", I have finally grasp some idea about the protest of BT, biotechnology. (Films are always one of the most effective ways, if not the only most effective way, of presenting a message)
No doubt, the greed of patent pursuers is most despicable especially when means of justification were used as excuses.
Not only the diversity of agriculture has been affected by BT companies to extinction since the permission of patenting organisms, the new genetic use restriction technology (GURT) AKA terminator gene technology is just outrageously unethical.
Another note is the mentioning of third world country hunger having nothing to do with production of food in the film, but was actually caused by having to grow expensive exports to pay back huge loans which would not have been possible by doing local farming. Thus, independent farmers become overwhelmed by industrial monopolization.
Every good film as a good ending, or solution. Thus, this film ended with the good news of "organic" labelled farming products.
