Entry of past recollection: ICC/ICOC

I remember one day, in September (prior to Stephen Tong's Rally), as I walked home from work on 7th Ave. near 27th, I exchanged flyers (well, more of a reluctant namecard from him) with a fellow on the street who was inviting pedestrians to a fellowship in some building.

I could tell, that he easily disregards churches or even rallies other than his own. That speaks a lot of itself already.

I looked into information later about his church, the International Christian Church, or to be more locally: Empire City ICC, to understand that how problematic this church is.

A cult? More like extremist. But definitely as problematic as the charismatics, if not worse. The sermons are like in a zoo. It is said that they want to give more authority to New Testament than Old, thus erroneously disregard much content of the Old Testament. Their founder Kip McKean (Who left another group he founded: ICOC = International Churches of Christ) seems to have domestic (daughter leaving the church), exclusivism, cult accused and other problems of his own.

Just got handed today with another one of those Church of Christ flyers. uwmchurchofchrist.org
They are everywhere in NYC doing the most evangelical work, it seems. They split on instrument usage for music worship, they have other splits. But they are crazy about hosting Bible classes everywhere.
