On Talks of Intellectual Properties

People have been debating on the ethic of downloading something for free.

With permission, without permission, copies, artist's livelihood, etc.

While I acknowledge the good act of paying for a CD or download; I am also aware of the fact that these are copies, ideas, non-tangible.

Therefore, I believe it's always an on going debate due to the fact that one side is always not balanced. Those who cared, seek to solve the balance. And I think the key is control. Tangible objects can easily be controlled. But things like ideas, music, well, we say download and CD now, but would anyone go as far as charging one's mind or voice for singing an artist's song without permission? Do I need to pay everytime I hum "Somewhere over the rainbow" or quote from a book? It is ridiculous because we have yet any means of control to monitor these situations or one's mind. It is more of a matter of making money than ethics or invasion of privacy.
