Like Arizona, condemned by the President of these state laws interfering with federal law, Alabama's action resulted a more drastic consequence: The withdrawal of Hispanic students from schools, etc.
Of course, these aren't the only two states that's going crazy. I hope this jealous (I think it's because of jealousy) frenzy of the south doesn't spread too much into the north.
I've done my own indirect survey via USATODAY's comments where most commentators are filled with jealousy towards foreign immigrants because whoever's comments were on their side, they always get more scores while the opponents' comments get negative ratings. Sure they love to say..."it's illegal"...but when I played the devil's advocate and commented one time "The foreigners should stay out of United States' job fields, whether they are legal or illegal", I actually got quote a high rating of at least 6 points.
I'm not surprised.
Will there be another secession like the civil war? If so, I hope I'd be gone by then.
John MacArthur's stand on this, I would say is also rather negatively vague, as per his book "Right Thinking in a World gone wrong". It is good that he makes a stand on comply with local law, but as for being the salt and light of the world, he'd rather leave it to the government to decide, as if anything else would be considered a protest. If you care enough to ask God, you would be given the wisdom to do it rightly. Unless, like his formal school's past, Bob Jones University's once racial issue (refused black enrollment, prohibited interracial relationship), MacArthur, though I believe him to be racist, is over conscious of perhaps a majority of those around who are. If I were to guess, Had MacArthur lived before the Civil War, he might not say slavery is wrong as that would be a 'civil' matter and rebellious at that time especially in the South. This is my point. It is as if he could only preach to political/military congregation where there's no civil conflict with the already established law. Otherwise, instead of voicing differently, he'll probably disappear.
So I now see while MacArthur was still the bravest American preacher to stand on public TV, his voice is only as good as the current murky civil law allows. The U.S. would have to turn against Christianity at its core for me to wonder how he would actually react.
More importantly, my question would be have they really learned to be a light of the world that even outshines politics or have they merely learned to be show others how civilized and biblical they can act.
As for these states' excuses in their 'methods', I can only reply:
You want to dispose those who are mostly of other ethnic groups while claiming you're not racists...good luck with that.
