One would think it's good for a "patient" to continue doing what he is doing eventhough the pertaining action is not commendable, hoping that he would gradually be rid of the bad habit. An excuse would be to introduce or try to identify some "good qualities" into such bad habit.
But would it not be better if such good qualities were done in the most productive habbit? Rather than in one's devolved satisfaction?
Therefore, I have to conclude that the problem is the fear of fear itself. Fear of a little hardship, struggle, change, discipline, etc.
