The Lord's Annointed

It is not our place to put forth our hands against pastors. For they are Jehovah's anointed. (1Samuel 24:6).

It is this notion that we should be mindful of. Some people kept their hands for the sake of not wanting trouble. Nay, it is not because of the pastors, it is because of Jehovah's anointment, and such makes it not our place to play such role.

Then one might argue, what if, the pastor begins to show unethical behavior. Then it is surely a disaster for the church. Today, it is a very practical thing to hire someone for a job and fire him as if he's not part of the company since the beginning. But this is not how theocracy works. Theocracy is not democracy. That means, whatever we do, we must do it in spirit and in truth. When certain committees have the authority to hire pastors, they must be the most qualified committees. Sure we are prone to mistake, but if such committee is selected out of the intention to fill up the lack of people in service, out of certain someone's passion to serve, out of academic achievements, etc. then this committee will fail in many crucial decisions without even knowing it, not to mention admitting their own failure.

If a former pastor who has done considerably well left the church due to personal reason, then it is rather sad as well. Such church will be in disaster, while the pastor himself will also have to suffer the consequences of running away from responsibility. Nevertheless, we are not to condemn or put our hands against him for he or she is God's anointed, not to mention that certain such pastors have done considerably well in certain area, being God's good vessel.

As for pastors who are wolves among sheep, who disguised as God's anointed, then it is a shame if such churches do not have a strong sense of biblical administration. Because nowadays many churches wish to separate that which is theology from that which is church life, as if setting apart that which is of school from that of home, these churches could only follow what their corrupted human rationalism and emotion lead them, which they call them as the guidance of the "Holy Spirit". Therefore, they would not be able to even admit their fault when things fall apart. Why do people go to seminaries? What is the use of studying theology?

When we make mistakes, we confess, we repent, we eagerly but patiently seek after God's favor. When we do not have the authority, we patiently and responsibly do what is in our place, we suffer, we cry, we pray, we put our faith in our Lord who is faithful and good, for such is the opportunity for us to be witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ and glorify His name, for through faith, we will have witness borne to us as the elders in Hebrews 11:2.
