Pebble Becomes Rebble

So Pebble is bought by Fitbit. The Kickstarter is done. The Pebble Time watch that my wife bought me is now officially UNsupported.

The good news is, there's Rebble.io. A volunteer-run substitution for Pebble. The site offers all the apps and watchfaces that were from the official site. Simply login to rebble.io and the site is featured with page that could automatically reconfigure your Pebble Watch/App to be hooked up with Rebble.IO resources instead of Pebble.com.

Thus far, the winning smartwatch with official support looks like Fitbit's Versa, which is close to $200. Of course, I'm not comparing this to Apple's or Samsung's smartwatches, which cost around $300-$400. I just need a simple watch that has some online features with long battery life and can be used for swimming. So I'm not quitting my Pebble Time just yet.

There may be some glitches, such as Pebble not able to download apps (displaying error message: Unsupported Apps/Watchfaces), the solution is simply reinstall the smartphone's Pebble App.

Update 8/14/2025 - Pebble is back apparently! Now, called Pebble time 2. My interest in it at this stage is purely in programming.
