It is know that SN 1006 (Lupus Constellation, southern hemisphere) is the bightest (-7.5 at peak) observed by naked eyes. Brigther than Venus (SN 1054 - formed Crab Nebula M1 also), seen for a few months during day time. Some would even claim one could read under its peak brightness at night.
