I remember reading the Wikipedia article on Jews for Jesus, a group of Jews from America targeting mainly other Jews of Judaism faith for conversion into Christianity.
The Catholic late Pope John Paul II had argued against preaching the Gospel to Jews, with the motive of having a good relationship with the Jewish communities.
Obviously, this argument was not out of the truth and peace, but peace alone.
I believe that such stand of the Catholics (not to mention other Christian groups) against preaching the Gospel to the Jews lies heavily upon their corrupted doctrine on soteriology, electing saints of the dead, misinterpreting the fine line between God's gracious sacrifice with works of men. Perhaps out of cowardice in Evangelism, for our Lord Jesus Christ, and a proud assumption that anyone who does otherwise is radical and beneath them (Catholics, etc.) in terms of "humility" and "open mindedness".
