It is said that the so called Messianic Jews today are like the legalistic Jewish Christians and non-Christians in Paul's days, whom Paul had a hard time dealing. I've heard of the work-based salvation accusation against them and arguments from their advodates even from the non-Jewish Christians. I do find the fact that their "over"-independence of doctrines rather disturbing. It is as if they do not want to give credit to church history. Perhaps, they still treat it as some wild olive tree only.
I have recently learned that the Jews for Jesus group is a spin-off of the original The Chosen People group. And I've been handed their flyers a few times already in the city and subways.
