I remember teaching the Sunday School one time on Celibacy when we were studying the epistle to the Corinthians, a pastor immediately interrupted, saying that everyone should get married, implying that celibacy is negatively abnormal.
True, yielding to a life of celibacy is special, because it is as Jesus said, for the kingdom of heaven's sake (Matthew 19:12). So it is a giving up. And such person needs to understanding what sort of calling this is. If a person indulges in the life of celibacy because a married priest is sinful, as the papists put it, or simply because he finds marriages useless or lowly or meaningless, then he has greatly sinned against God, who created man and woman and made the union between a man and a woman to be a sacred relationship.
So not everyone should get married, not everyone should be celibate. One must know what calling God has for oneself.
I am intrigued, that this pastor's own sunken marriage has been public knowledge for a while now, and he wanted to call celibacy abnormal. I wonder who is truly abnormal here.
Came across this FB post of David Tong on Mihailo Tolotos, a monk who passed away without ever seeing a woman. I commented: "Celibacy is not a virtue - John Calvin on Matthew 19 commentary.
Interesting question asked about a man marrying a conjoined twin (Abby & Brittany) on Facebook The Cabana Chronicles Group July 27th 2025: Question… Is this man biblically unqualified to be a bishop or a deacon?:
And my response:
Common assumptions apply: Not AI, not transgenders, etc.
Therefore, applying Matthew 19:12, I think all 3 types of eunuchs can apply here simultaneously to the twin here, as far as marriage goes. However, since celibacy is not a virtue, if one does choose celibacy, one is not to view that as a virtue nor in rebellion, but submission to God. They are to be loved by whichever church that should walk and suffer this life with them, as commanded in the Bible.
Firstly, on BODY:
If two can share a body, they can share a man's body and call it one. Will this preclude sharing two men? That would require wisdom and consent and the condition of their biology (i.e. do the twins share sensations from whole or half body, etc.) So either one sister sacrifice her marital rights (first 2 eunuchs mentioned by Jesus) or they both get their own man, but then the men would need to also be holy and wise as well, one needs to sacrifice something, as it's not a normal marriages, because this is considered becoming not one but two fleshes. And there is no excuse to pervert sex and progeny from this, if it is to be done.
Secondly, on SOUL:
Is this an excuse for a man to consider both of them his wives? No, because one flesh comes from two not three persons of opposite genders. Therefore, this answers your original question, as it is never a polygamous relationship. So there's wisdom required to deal with the other sister, which would obviously depend on the biology (i.e. is it necessary to give her/her "side" of the body some space? etc.) and PERSONal space. Nevertheless, he will inevitably share what his wife (not himself) shares of her sister in love, joy and pain, which is possible in all godliness.
Lastly, on death:
Should this happen, he will need to carry the burden of one of the sister's death on him in Christ. Regardless of his wife's or the sister's death, regardless of the time of such burden. It would be wise for him to think this through now.
Ok, give me your challenge.
