A small one I started a few months ago, using some TEMU products. 2 x roughly 6 - 7 inches cubes and a usb LED light. Some TEMU's aquarium mini-products failed (the pumps, etc.)
Now, I have from Petco a blue male veiltail betta fish (about two have died prior) which survived our recent two week Eurotrip. And a neon tetra (had 4 before, all died out, along with some shrimps). I have a bendable moss in the betta tank. The other tank I used for filtration, so I will have more plants in that other one. Currently has two (from Petco): small Anubias Nana, Java Fern "Windelov".
So I currently run the two tanks on a timer for light and a mini water pump to circulate water between the tanks. I just bought a 50W water heater yesterday from Petco.
Update 3/16/2026:
Due to dead fish and algae bloom, I've reset everything for the freshwater tank after following some youtubers on aquascaping. To date, I have this setup over a few months ago with RODI:
-Bought 2.5 Gal Imagitarium Open-glass Rimless Aquarium Tank from Petco (12.5"x9.2"x6.1")
-Grown carpet plant (Monnieri, Hygrophila) from seed bought from Ebay (>1 months)
-Mini hang-on-back filter from Temu (socket powered, not USB - maybe next time)
-A few CO2 diffusers on the way from Aliexpress
-Anubias congensis 2x from Petco (3/19/2026)
I plan to do some simple aquascaping learning, raising something as simple as shrimps and experiment on plant growing. I brought some rocks from the sea sides months ago, but am bad at landscaping. It's tempting to buy dragon stones and drift woods online, but I feel guilty buying something I could just pick out from the wild myself.
