"All church works are voluntary", says my Rev. Lin. She's finally said it. Though I disagree, but it is something I have been waiting for her to say.
Now, I have good reason to forbid myself from attending the retreat the following years. And I will not go for sure. Unless, they got the quality side, such as inviting Paul Washer, etc. But I doubt they would...impress me.
On the other hand, there's talk of asking me to do some promotion for church annual magazine. When I said, I am willing to do the technical part, just not the human-to-human interaction part, the pastor said it is for the purpose of the interaction that they want me to do it. For this impure motive, I will have to refuse. My God would not allow it.
As for the social issue, I supposed, even the pastor, unfortunately, failed to understand the concept of quality, church discipline. Just like her mentor Bill Gothard, she cannot rely on scripture for God to work His miracle; everything is about tricky persuasion and cunning motives and cover ups because the ends, according to these, can always justify the cause. Good thing she doesn't view homosexuality as the rest of the RCA churches. Let's hope it can stay that way.
This is sad. Well, if the prophets could bare with the Israelites, I'm sure I can bare with these, with God's grace.
