My new desktop computer

It was a cheap one. Only $430. Therefore, I guess I had taken the risk of purchasing a erroneous product. However, the specs are very impressive. Pentium 4, 3.06Ghz, 1GB RAM memory, 200GB Maxtor HDD, DVDRW-Drive, ATI-All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500 w 128MB Vram. Wireless Keyboard/optical mouse.

So, how better can it get? it's the best config for this time. Unless there are malfunctions which is very hard to avoid in the case of second-hand product.

The problem of this system: It likes to reboot on its own.

I have come to a few educated conclusions. I have recently discovered that the bios was "upgraded" incorrectly. Bios upgrade is supposed to be based on the motherboard, not just any available version out there. So one need to confirm the version from the manufacturer of the motherboard. So I corrected the bios version, which is actually an older verison (2002 vs 2003).

1. insufficient power supply: I got 300Watt now. But articles emphasize on higher power especially due to the new line of power hunger video graphic cards. 300 Watt is just the bottom threshold for ATI's new cards. I plan to get a 500Watt if possible, ASAP. Since this is rather cheap, $15 on pricewatch report.

2. One of the drives-DVD or HDD malfunctioned. The only way to test this out is to use other drives. Which I'll save this for last.

3. Malfunction Motherboard. I'll save this for last last.

4. The wireless desktop system seems to be giving me some problem, ie. typing frustration after floppy boot (however, this problem did not occur when I just got the machine, problem seemed to have been solved when I replace it with my own older keyboard/optical mouse, non-wireless. Perhaps a fresh install with these input devices would solve some of the reboot/frozen system error? I'll wait til I have the new power supply and do them all at once. I have had enough of reinstalling again and again. This has been around the 6th time I reinstalled the system. The wireless input system and I are over. Convince me next time.
