It is a Watchman Nee thing. That one must physically suffer a sort of near death experience, be it illness, emotional desperation, etc. in order to actually gain that eternal bliss of life.
Such is not the saying of Colossians 3:3. For when it is said: You are dead, or You have died...it is a current present condition. Not a past one.
