Android Email Phantom Unread Messages # Indicator frozen

On Galaxy Note One i717.

There are no more unread messages, but the mail EMAIL icon on Android still shows 3 messages unread.

This is fixed by Clearing Data of the app called "BadgeProvider", reboot was suggested after data clearing, but it seems unnecessary.
