Instead of refined sugar, appreciate the natural sweetness of low-glycemic coconut sugar, maple syrup or dates. Enjoy gluten and dairy in moderation, opting for organic when possible. And so on.
Cook at home as often as you can, and remember that this does not mean it has to be complicated or boring. Try satisfying, homemade concoctions like spiced granola, big bowls of vegetables, healthified cookies, or tahini hot cacao.
