9/19/2024 There's news about Steve Lawson's dismissal/being fired from his church and other ministries due to "...the elders at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas were informed by Steve Lawson of an inappropriate relationship that he has had with a woman..." ~Trinity Bible Church Dallas announcement. Someone covered this best by clipping Lawson's last sermon, apparently conspicuously pointing out that Lawson may have tried to link his own sin in the matter to John the Baptist lack of faith in Jesus by sending his disciples to confirm the Messiah, as Lawson urged "...and you should not judge a man by his one weak moment..." and at @3:50 "...Adrian Rogers...trouble with preachers today is no one ones to kill them anymore. The preachers must be willing to suffer for it..." not sure this last one was Lawson's desire to link it to his own sin and suffering.
But I will not speculate too far nor even talk about this like the other Christians as if this is some news. It's not news to me because:
I never really hold Lawson in as high regard as these Christians, due to the critiques I've given before and present (i.e. jealousy of Pak Tong's church size, getting owned by Paul Washer for being playful with Washer's late arrival at a conference, unable to answer a question on white lies seriously but laughing like Kamala Harris - as shown in below video and I have downloaded into my Photo/Video drive just in case they remove it, etc.)
Secondly, I only criticizes on a preacher own words, not something that news media claims, even his own church or ministries hold little weight for me until I hear his own feedback on it. I can listen and to them all and I often make my own judgment in spite of their comments which maybe vastly different than my own no matter how minority mine may appear to be.
Also, judging from the Trinity church's announcement, it's interesting that Lawson was the one who first brought this up instead of being reported or caught by someone else. Was he being threatened to do so? Or was he taking an incredibly rare proactive action to repent without being caught first? If I cannot answer these, I cannot speculate further. But would appreciate for him to speak up instead of hiding away. Until then, I really don't care to follow this trend of vain news for these two reasons: 1. As explained above, Lawson really is not as big deal as they, especially the fake self-proclaimed reformed-but-really-just-fundamentalist Christians, think, unlike folks like Pak Tong, Sproul, MacArthur, etc. (in the order of importance from left to right for me). 2. We need to hear from Lawson himself about this, not others, not even his own wife.
Goodhart's Law in Software Engineering says: When a measure has become a target, it ceases to be a good measure. This reminds me of church growth its paradoxical meaning in numbers. It is good to have great number in a church, but without right doctrine, the number is not good but proportionally shameful. It's good to be concerned with church growth, but when the number becomes the target, it ceases to be a good number.

9/15/2024 After church service, the pastor came to ask me how's everything. I told him all's good but it would be too much to tell as I wouldn't know what would interest him in the conversation. Later I thought, I would tell him about my exciting work with Salesforce at work and the best way to put this in layman's term would be: Steve's job as Docker/VM developer would be like a creating landfill/reclamation/real estate, Salesforce is like a house builder, and I'm like the interior designer of the house. Though all can be considered developers in the IT world.
