Journal of the Week

9/20/2026 Sunday

I suppose this is a refresher course on driving: Today I was confronted with a situation which became my fault. At a 4-way intersection with only two stop signs, by the Crossroads church (when we were leaving after the 9am service), I had always assumed that after stopping at the sign, before turning left, I must always yield to opposing traffic going straight or turning right. But it turns out that this is only true if we both arrived at our opposing stop signs simultaneously. Otherwise, it's first come first go. So no wonder the opposing car honked at me after blinking at me and then gave up and passed me going straight from opposing side.

Stop sign is the only road sign with eight-sided octagon shape. Otherwise, look for white stop lines, if my own stop sign says "2-way" or "cross traffic does not stop" underneath it.

After arriving home, I did a quick 1/5 water change for the reef tank. 1.028 salinity. Motivated to do a disciplined weekly water change after my trip to Aquashella (the guy told me he doesn't dose his tank, just consistent water change, and his corals looked real happy).
