Lake George Trip 2026 oct 17 - 20

10/17 Saturday:

Today is the start of our road trip in our new TESLA Model Y for the first time. Woke up at 5:15AM. Took off at around 6:45AM, in the twilight before daybreak. Car was charged to 100% the night before, instead of our daily 80% top off for battery care. Willy had seen and learned of our new car for the first time the night before (when he came on Friday).

Perhaps it was the rush before daybreak, I forgot to bring TESLA Mobile charger (minor because TESLA Supercharging stations can plug directly into the car to charge), bring my swimming gears (Nadia brought my trunk for me, but I don't have my goggles), throw out the garbage. I should have a habit of setting reminders.

The further we drove was Warren Falls (no signals around this area) on VT-100, the famous Fall Foliage of Route 100 in Vermont. We charged at two stops before that, first time using the superchargers. Certainly fast, from 30% to 80% under 30 minutes (comparing to 2% per hour charging at home). In between the charging stations (Glenmont & Rutland), we lunched at the Sandwich Shoppe, in Rutland. Willy had meatballs sandwich, Nadia shared chicken wrap with me. I found this place using https://www.top-rated.online/ sorting by highest rating. Nadia wasn't impressed. She thinks everything in Vermont is too pricy.

Then we returned the same route down to Moss Glen Falls. Both falls have very short hike trails (less than 10 minutes to 1 minute, respectively).

Rt-100 was indeed the scenic route. It seemed that the timing Nadia picked was not bad, slightly post-peak time.

After checking into Fireside Inn & Suites, West Lebanon, NH, at around 4:07pm, we went out to dine at Weathervane Seafood Restaurant. Again, found this via https://www.top-rated.online/, but using most reviews sorting. Rating was only 4.1/5. I would give it 5/10 after tasting the fried seafood combo, fried calamari, fried mushrooms, not must into taste and spices, these Americans, just know how to fry stuff. The soups were fine (fish chowder & clam chowd0er cups).

This hotel is one of the most expensive ones we've booked thus far ($300+/night). Saturday in this season was a hard find around Lake George, according to Nadia. The other two hotels we will be staying next by Lake George are around $133+ each per night. Nadia booked these two latter ones due to pricing differences on different days.

At night, Willy and I took the car to get charged to 95% (from 55%) at West Lebanon Supercharging station (behind Walmart).

Tomorrow, after hotel's included breakfast, I don't think there's much else to see around here, so I plan to take us to Simon Pearce in Quechee for glass blowing demonstration, signed up for their email list I think and I got $20 coupon, while on our way to Lake George.
