Van Cortlandt Park plants/weeds

Polygonum caespitosum

Long Bristled Smartweed (Polygonum caespitosum - Oriental Lady's Thumb):

Found along the fence between park and forest. Pink flowers are obvious. Resembles Lady's Thumb (in Wildman Steve Brill's edible plants book), minus the "thumb print" on the leaves.

I couldn't identify it with XID app, though it has many other smartweed species. Email sent to author. I was able to ID this via google's image gallery using "pink flowers weeds in new york".

Edibility: ?Unknown?
