It is known that we should not worship idols. The Roman Catholics in their 2nd Council of Nicaea (A.D. 787) has clarified their stand against certain degree of iconoclasm of the reformation movement. Yet, they are still in err. Even the Ark of the Covenant was not treated with divine attributes.
Then I heard someone claimed to have found a verse to support images in the name of art. Exo 31:4. However, I think that verse does not fit. It is not "how" or "with what" in art that's in question, but "what" is made or for which purpose. I would say 1Corinthians 10:31 is a better verse.
