Sermon - Stephen Tong Sunday Service 7/26/2020 Matthew 5:43-48

Tong critiqued the sound system team in the beginning, I wasn't aware of the quality of it.

Christian ethics here looks like the lowest but is in fact the greatest as it is the ethics motive. It is active and not passive. Getting stricken by others is passive, turning the other cheek is active. Such is the high value of Christian Ethics. Such exceeds the righteousness of the Pharisees.

When we hear something no other culture has mentioned before, from the mouth of Christ, we must:

  1. Thank God
  2. Value Christian faith
  3. Do the work

Two kinds of enemies:
1. never repent
2. Like Paul who persecute Christians and repented

We don't know which is which, but pray for all of them.

The Communists do not fear loosing men, but they fear the loss of their power.

v.46-47 The publicans (tax collectors) are generally greedy and bad news for the Jews for the collect the tax for Rome.

v.48 Jesus requires us to be perfect as God. Why the entire Roman empire turned into Christian nation, because they followed this teaching.
