On Extremism

Churches like the Westboro Baptist Church and ATrueChurch have been eager to teach the true doctrine but they fail to put things in order. By this, they would not be able to understand why Jesus Christ did not go around proclaiming that He is the son of God, He is God, directly.

Furthermore, by claiming that they know who is going to hell, for example: Billy Graham, Greg Laurie, etc. would be unbiblical. Did Jesus say John the Baptist is going to hell? Did Paul said that Barnabas and Peter were going to hell?

Now, for those who preach "Believe in Jesus and everything will be fine" in a shallow manner, repentance is required for the faith. Do not take out the word "repent" out of the Gospel. People can easily believe "Jesus" by simply replace the word "repent" with "be entertained". If you are already saved and committed a sin, repent and sin not again, make sure you mean it.

Pastoral Search Committee

In our search for a suitable pastor, the following scratch sheet was
developed for your perusal. Of the candidates investigated by the
committee, only one was found to have the necessary qualities. The
list contains the names of the candidates and comments on each,
should you be interested in investigating them further for future
pastoral placements.

Noah: He has 120 years of preaching experience, but no converts.

Abraham: He took off to Egypt during hard times. We heard that he
got into trouble with the authorities and then tried to lie his way
out.

Moses: He stutters; and his former congregation says he loses his
temper over trivial things.

David: He is an unacceptable moral character. He might have been
considered for minister of music had he not 'fallen.'

Solomon: He has a reputation for wisdom but fails to practice what
he preaches.

Elijah: He proved to be inconsistent, and is known to fold under
pressure.

Hosea: His family life is in a shambles. Divorced, and remarried
to a prostitute.

Jeremiah: He is too emotional, alarmist; some say a real 'pain in
the neck.'

Amos: Comes from a farming background. Better off picking figs.

John: He says he is a Baptist but lacks tact and dresses like a
hippie. Would not feel comfortable at a church potluck supper.

Peter: Has a bad temper, and was heard to have even denied Christ
publicly.

Paul: We found him to lack tact. He is too harsh, His appearance
is contemptible, and he preaches far too long.

Timothy: He has potential, but is much too young for the position.

Jesus: He tends to offend church members with his preaching,
especially Bible scholars. He is also too controversial. He even
offended the search committee with his pointed questions.

Judas: He seemed to be very practical, co-operative, good with
money, cares for the poor, and dresses well. We all agreed that he
is just the man we are looking for to fill the vacancy as our Senior
Pastor.

Disastrous Love

I hope no one makes a weak person weaker with "stupid love";

I hope no one makes a person more stupid with "stupid love";

I hope no one makes a person more pathetic with "stupid love".

On Sermon

One must be aware enough to know certain messages just need to be repeated again and again. One cannot expect all listeners to have heard them before if some of they in fact, haven't. And this is a tough art.

Honest as the Bible

I made a few mistakes in words while leading the hymns on last Sunday's worship. There weren't many people in the congregation because it is spring break and most students went to the Gospel Camp upstate New York.

While editing the recording for server upload, I was considering if I should not post my singing, which has a couple of mistakes. It was a solo singing since no one else was singing with me.

I supposed in this case, as a record, I just have to follow the honesty of the Bible. The Bible records the wrongs of the saints as well. Hence, this will be a reminder for me to perfection.

Be Not Many Masters

James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

James 3:1  我的弟兄们，不要多人作师傅，因为晓得我们要受更重的判断。

 

Supposed there's a teacher, who, out of carelessness on rare occasion taught his students that a cow has 5 stomachs. Consequently, One of the students became a teacher and, based on his past notes, taught his students that a cow has 5 stomachs.

Who is at fault here?
The first teacher, second teacher, both teachers or no one?
