The Currency War

From Mahathir's blog, it is sobering to realize that we shouldn't be too optimistic on Malaysian currency's appreciating, but the depreciation of U.S. currency.

Network Invalid

One of NYGC's staff stations had no internet while the rest were fine.

Network icon at lower right screen shows a yellow triangular sign with exclamation mark. Thus, it's not a disconnection.

Solution:

Router's DHCP server has reached its maximum available IP. Somehow, it is unable to automatically recycle resources. Had to reboot router for it to release and renew all IPs.

I also increased Maximum DHCP users from 50 to 99.

Backed up router settings to both NYGC server and my laptop.

Note to self: Remember to realize this earlier in the future so I could do this remotely, save the time travelling.

Crystal Cathedral Church files Bankruptcy

Now it's America's turn, after Europe.

Crystal Cathedral Church in Garden Grove, CA, whose former leader Dr. Schuller once made Billy Graham publicly denounced Christianity as the only way, the need for repentance, to preach the Gospel.

Great church, what a pity.

Some Hacker Crook

Interesting, some hacker trying to attack my cam server at port 30,000 and omirr. IP 204.45.65.130, blocked via dd-wrt router iptables.

Looks like they are collecting servers with webcams or something. Nice try. Try a proxy, Einstein.

A Quote From the Übermensch Religion

Yet, another of Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche's Superman consequences. Well said, nonetheless. Interesting music pick.

"I'm not dwelling on revenge for past atrocities or looking ahead from what I could personally gain from a few tax breaks, drilling oil wells in the ocean, putting up razor wire fences to keep out immigrants who only want what our grandparents wanted. In this world of armchair bloggers who’ve created a generation of critics instead of leaders, I’m actually doing something. Right here. Right now. For the city. For my country."

Rescue of Chilean Miners Teaches U.S. a huge lesson...will they learn it?

A gold mine collapse trapping 33 miners in Chile caused devastation to families.

69 days rescue plan was finally successful in pulling out miners from 700 meters deep drill one by one after calling out from all over the world, bringing joy to all.

Thus lessons for the Americans:

1. Be humble enough to enlist help from other nations when facing crisis.

2. Stop putting blames and get one's priority straight.

Silence in the Face of Evil if Evil Itself

I recently purchased Eric Metaxas' new book on "Bonhoeffer".

On the cover, there's this famous quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

I remember reading a similar quote from John Calvin:

And even when there are two opposing camps in the Church, if one is
opposing the truth of God in order to overthrow it and the other holds
to the good
so that it may always follow what is commanded, it is
certain that whoever is neutral will be disloyal and a traitor...... So today there are many who would like to be neutral
in the midst of all these troubles. They think: 'Very well, I do not
want to be involved on one side orthe other. I will wait and see who is
going to be the strongest and is more likely to win.' So it is a matter
(for believers) of becoming as deeply involved as possible. Therefore,
far be it from us to condemn those who follow the right party.

Interesting Land Purchases

While searching for buying farms in the world, I came across a few cheap lands for sales on Ebay. Some deserts in Texas cost about $1.5k - $2.5k with around $70 annual tax.

Though still too far beyond me, it is good to know, nonetheless.
