TMJ - Find Cure

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder

I believe I have what is called a TMJ syndrome. Noted by my "free" chiropractor from craigslist years ago as "glass jaw". I searched and couldn't find anything in the vocabulary of "glass jaw". However, TMJ seems to closest description of my problem.

There's isn't much pain. If there is, it's very temporary. The main problem is I cannot open or close my mouth in a straight line, as I could sense the clicking or snapping on the left side of my jaw joint.

I believe it also affect my inner throat in the pertaining area as if there's some obstacle (maybe the disk between the jaw and skull) causing me wanting to cough sometimes. Sometimes, pressing certain point in that area outside the jaw could agitate this effect, but just sometimes.

Diagnose: I think the left disk is dislocated.

Cause: Uncertain, but I think it's because I chewed too hard (love chewing cartilage-soft bones).

Solution: More research needed. Moving this from Vocabularies category to Projects. Stop chewing softbones, some bones are just not meant to be chewed. Although it is not yet problematic, I'm afraid if I do not attend to it, it would have severe impact in the future.

Admiration and Recommendation

Everyone has responsibility. Admiration and recommendation are not counted as responsibility.

They are like faith. Recognition of the truth. Not substitution of a negative behavior such as jealousy. Not superficial so one should instead work from admiration to admiration just as from faith to faith.

Interesting Observation in Servitude

You love to ask me to serve with you, I'm all happy and fully committed in all my best and willingness to do.

But if it is in my own ministry, set by God, I will not permit thee to serve with me.

Why I will not attend this year's and possibly the future retreats

Last year, I rather preached than to attend the church retreat. This year, as some thought/hope I would go, I am sure they will be disappointed.

One simple rule: From their leading of fellowships, pursue of word of God (I target this not at the commoners but the spiritual leaders), I'd say, let them suffer their own fruit that they bear, lest they never learn.

Events like retreats, gatherings, even choirs are not bad. But how to invite or attract people to join, that's the important key.

Do we attract people by God's word and God's word alone? If not, then compromise is the only other solution.

But why not labor in raising our Lord on high? Instead of working on schemes of cunningness and ulterior motives and vain attractions?

Strange Screen Upside Down Occurrence during TOEFL iBT Java Applet Session

After some useless technical advices from the support team of Prometric (from India, I think), I finally figured out the problem.

It has nothing to do with enabling rotation or hotkeys in the Graphic properties (rightclick menu at desktop), but it is the refresh rate in there. Someone must have changed it as it was different than others'. So I simply set it back to 60 hertz from 75. And bingo, no more upside down screen when the full test screen is loaded.

Flashes

Today, while administering a TOEFL test, I saw some very supermodel looking lady walked in. Thinking that she seems familiar (seems to look like Uma Thurman), like a movie star, so I googled her name: Daria Strokous. (Today 03/06/2015, another model: Mirte Maas showed up) And to my half surprise, she was listed on many fashion pages and even wikipedia.

Flashes of exciting suggestions came into my mind: Should I take a photo with her? (I always carry a camera with me) What's she doing here in New York? Should I talk to her later? Should I tell the other staffs? Should I...etc.?

Another set of flashes interrupted, intermingling with the former. I recalled an incident Dr. Tong testified when he was taking photos with actors in Hong Kong and people told him how lucky he was to have pictures taken with famous celebrities, he responded differently (Can't remember what reaction it was but I remember enough to know that it wasn't something usually expected nor was it too drastic).

I have often viewed the fashion world as vainity. Sometimes, I do see a sense of beauty the designers trying to imitate from God. I then concluded that if a christian's profession is in fashion, he/she must have quite some temperance. Now I even recall (if I have not mistaken) that the Redeemer's Church has a fellowship group just for those in fashion industry.

Well, at least this one has a good manner, saying thank you everytime. I supposed I would just let it be. People are here to take TOEFL test, not to be bothered-whether they like it or not. It is now almost 2 hours into the test of 4 hours as I write this entry as she's testing in another room proctored by another. Good thing I didn't know who she was when I was taking routine photo of hers just as she was any TOEFL candidates while checking her in to her testing station or I might have been tempted to say: pose like this, face this way, look there, etc.

On the other hand, I'd better do some self check. I shouldn't have this paparazzi/vain fan emotions in me. I should rather be excited at seeing people like my family, pastors and elders, even paintings of Paul, Peter, etc. Just as the lesson from last night's fellowship taught, I should be more mindful of the righteous ones as Abraham did when he welcomed our Lord during the visit of the three.

Similarities

The Egyptians enslaved the Israelites and killed their youngs.

The Germans slaugthered the Jews.

The Americans and the English levied laws against immigrants instead of their "sponsors".

The excuse: For the better of their nations.

The common ground here: jealousy.

Wisdom in Mentioning Pak Tong

Perhaps it is wise to sometimes be watchful before mentioning Stephen Tong before some stranger believers, especially the charismatics, if one is to teach some doctrine. Because these have carried their jealousy against Rev. Tong for so long that at the sound of that name, they just cannot absorb any form of lessons from the mouth that speaks it anymore.

Nevertheless, the firm rebuke from true doctrine must not be compromised, but in all truthfulness, ceasing from anger and forsaking wrath. And in the end, if need be, the most uneasy truth must still be told.
