New Project: Pay Homeless to get their Autobiographies

I don't usually give in the subways. Sometimes, I try to be generous on the streets.

That is not enough. The thought of preaching the Gospel to them is always the first burden. Often times, I got let down due to the fact that they thought they knew Christianity and consider themselves "very" Christians already. On the other hand, I had always felt I'm in a rush to do something else.

So, given enough time, I should be able to use my money to good use, by collecting some of their own testimonies/autobiographies. And evangelism must never be lacking

A Good Site/Video for Hikers - New York

This guy makes his own video all by himself (perhaps not the editing part), as he hikes the trails and mountains, particularly in New York. His documentaries are very enthusiastic and provide good resources for other hikers.

Whispering Gallery - Grand Central

I did not know Grand Central has this amazing architecture until now. One of the secrets of the train central (others were deepest city basement, roof clock access, etc. which I think requires authorization).

These whispering walls are of intentional design, apparently. Grand Central is not the only one with such. One person speaks at the corner of the domed shaped ceiling wall, the other could hear it at the opposite corner. Wish I had known this earlier and showed it to my dad and brother.

Of course, I would have to try this out myself as well.

Gay Marriage Ban - The Nonsense

Janet has it right when she tweeted: No state ever HAD a "gay marriage ban," so how can courts strike these phantom "bans" down? Media, the laws uphold marriage. Big difference.

They would look bad if they called it annulling/appealing/striking down the law of proper marriage. But rather, they twist the terminology to make the right wrong and the wrong right. They have to make up "gay marriage ban" to mean proper marriage, so that it is the "ban" that is at fault, as if "gay marriage" was the original establishment.

Is Pizza Really from China?

I once heard at NYGC that pizza came from China, via Marco Polo. There is such saying, but it's not true. The supposed Chinese invention is called 葱油饼:

Chinese legend surrounding the invention of pizza

Main article: History of pizza

There is a story in China that pizza is an evolution of the scallion pancake, brought back to Italy by Marco Polo. A humorous newspaper article, that also includes Marco Polo inventing cheese fondue when he is lost in the Alps and wants to eat Chinese hotpot, describes the invention of pizza this way:[1]

Marco Polo missed scallion pancakes so much that when he was back in Italy, he tried to find chefs willing to make the pancake for him. One day, he managed to meet a chef from Naples at a friend's dinner party and persuaded him to try recreating the dish. After half a day without success, Marco Polo suggested the filling be put at the top rather than inside the dough. The change, by chance, created a dish praised by everyone at the party. The chefs returned to Naples and improvised by adding cheese and other ingredients and formed today's pizza.

Historical evidence in Europe suggests that pizza was not transmitted to Europe by Marco Polo, but existed in the Mediterranean long before his time.[2][3] The first recorded use of the word "pizza" dates from 997 AD (in a Latin text from the town of Gaeta in southern Italy),[4] more than 250 years before Marco Polo was born.
