Nanny hit baby caught on tape

On Staten Island. Perhaps it is crucial to install a hidden camera when nannies are around. If I object, it is the notion of hiring a nanny. Child care is provided by the mother, not some stranger.

This is the reason I wonder why guys cannot be nannies. I tried to apply for the position once long time ago and was rejected because I am a guy.

Is Sun Quan 孫權 White?

I've heard it from Hai Long before, I did not know it myself. That Sun Quan, according to Luo Guan Zhong's "Romance of Three Kingdoms" novel, has green eyes and purple hair.

There has been debate on whether Sun Quan was of white ancestry. My best find is:

RunKeeper & GymPact Confusion

It's a very good program. Paying small $ runners/bikers as they exercise (motivating them by $$ penalty). However, their rule is confusing, though discouraging, as I have already completed my Pact for 3-4 weeks.

Which RunKeeper activities count for GymPact?

  • All runs, walks or bike rides tracked by RunKeeper's GPS
  • Minimum 1/2 miles distance
  • Minimum of 30 minutes of activity in which your pace is above 2 miles per hour (but slower than driving!).
If in doubt, an extra 5 minutes of walking, running or biking never hurts!
  • Maximum 3 hours long

For point 2 & 3, my question on the logic would be:

Does not 2 miles per hour for minimum of 30 mins translate into minimum of 1 mile? Then, how does "Minimum 1/2 miles distance justify"?

Is Tithing an old thing?

Ever since the Charismatic movement, tithing has been emphatically replaced by giving. They say that tithing is not a New Testament thing.

Thirdmill has an excellent response to that:

Question
According to the Bible we are to give our tithes to the service of the Lord. Normally, we do so through the church. But recently a sister asked me if she could give her tithes directly to a really extremely poor family which really needed the money. Now, she might pay it to the church and tell the church about this poor family, but what if she still wanted to pay it herself to the poor family?
Answer
The Bible has varying instructions regarding the tithe. Generally, it was to be given to the Lord via the Levites. The modern application of this is generally thought to be that Christians ought to give their tithes to the church (though some would include other ordained ministries such as missionaries or parachurch organizations). In the Old Testament, many alms for the poor were above and beyond the tithe (e.g. Exod 23:10-11; Lev 19:9-10; 25:35-37; Deut 15:7-11; 24:12-15). The tithe had many purposes, including: to support the priesthood (Num 18:21-32; Deut 14:28-29); to honor God in sacrifice and enjoyment (Lev 27:31; Num 18:26-28; Deut 14:22-26); and to feed the aliens, widows and orphans (Deut 14:28-29; 26:12).It is sometimes argued that the tithe is no longer applicable in the New Testament era, but that the rule of giving generously and cheerfully now applies. However, the New Testament nowhere revokes the command to tithe, and Jesus himself affirms it (Matt 23:23; Luke 11:42). Moreover, the passage generally used to support this argument (2 Cor 9:7), does not apply to tithes, but to a special gift for the needy. Of course, the New Testament also affirms the need to care for the poor apart from using the tithe (Matt 6:3-4; 19:21; Mark 10:21; Luke 14:13; 18:22; 19:8; Gal 2:10; Jam 2:1-17).

In short, Christians have obligations both to tithe and to care for the poor. The Bible does not seem to warrant giving to the poor in place of tithing, or to warrant tithing in place of giving to the poor.

What happens to the Fathers before Christ - John Calvin

For believers before Christ's incarnation, they "enjoy a blessed rest, until redemption be finished" (The day of resurrection). - Calvin's commentary on John 14:2.

To stand on this point, Calvin commentated Luke 23:43 We ought not to enter into curious and subtle arguments about the place of paradise, as long as believers trust that they are the partakers of that life. For now, just imagine a blessed and joyful rest.

There is a case to ponder from this: That perhaps the keyword for the solution is "beyond time".

15 year old Malala Yousufzai

Pakistani girl who promotes education for girls in her home country sparks controversy in her land. Despite physical attacks, she remains strong on her will. This is an interesting bit. There is even a Malala foundation of $10 million from Pakistan set up for her promotion. I am impressed but curious as to her personality and future.

The middle East has a danger, if they do not change how they view women, whether in their tradition or mostly Islamic religion, they would be faced with a terror they have been disgusted with in their propaganda against the Western culture: an invasion of feminism.

Genetics and Evolution Course Interesting Terminologies

Order of terms from small to large: Nucleotide, Allele (one variant of a gene), Gene, DNA, Chromosome, Nucleus.

QTL - Quantitative Trait Loci - locations where multiple genes are affecting a phenotype. (We don't know what makes the QTL effect - Week 4 - 5 video lecture). QTL mapping is just a hypothesis, it is not conclusive.

That which led to QTL solved the battle between the Mendelian and biometrician models. The Mendelians concluded new traits came from mutation, biometricians refuted that theory based on their bell curve of the various traits. They only see 1 gene as the cause.

SNP - Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms. Genetic markers.

Homozygote vs. Heterozygote = genotypes AA vs. AO blood types (for example).
