The Stupid and the Clever Dilemma

It is only used to filter out the false flatterers, not for encouraging anti-social behavior.

Adulatio: Wah, you are so clever!!!

Callidus: Nah, you're just more stupid!

Adulatio: Wah! you so sombong eh?

Callidus: You were offended? shows that you weren't sincere.

Adulatio: Not sincere? How do you know?

Callidus: If you deemed me clever, that could only mean that you are less clever than me. And if I know how stupid I am, then that means you are admitting you are stupider. So really, it is not pride, but quite the opposite. And if you were smarter than I, then by calling me clever, it is obvious that you were patronizing me by that kind of tone, which I would not consider for now, for it is more evil.

Lockpicking

I thought I had lost the skill of lock picking ever since my family old Mazda car has been sold.

I purchased a Southord lockpicking set years ago, but never really got to know how to use it.

I was asked by one client to open a locked drawer recently, which motivated me to re-kindle that old lock-picking spirit.

After watching Youtube videos, particularly the ones on double sided waffer locks, I've finally managed to crack the case.

With double sided  locks, you just need to gosok both gigi while holding the tension wrench with a moderate (not too strong) force (counter-clockwise to unlock in my case).

Best Narator for the Bible in English and Chinese

Thus far, other than James Earl Jones' voice (but he only did New Testament), Steven B. Stevens has my favorite voice in the market for reading the Bible in English.

Chinese,  it is from 漢語聖經公會.

New Term for most of those Evangelicals of today

I just came up with a term for the so called Evangelicals who infuse some of charismatic theology/psychology into their foundations. Singing those charismatic music. They couldn't tell the difference between praising Christ and singing a prom song to Jesus. Between a concert of men and the glory hall of God.

I call these: 半生熟靈恩派.

Sigh...sigh...sigh...

Reflecting on the past GENG annual magazine of CCCNY

The interesting part is making it a dialogue.

文言文的目的是讓那些腦子膚淺的讀了不發不該發的脾氣。

The Left and Right Wing, especially in politics

Its history originated from the French Revolution, where the noblemen sat to the president's right and commoners sat to the left in parliament.

Left Wing leaning towards: changes, reforming, for the people, democratic, liberal, communism, etc.

Right Wing leaning towards: traditional, conservatives, republicans, aristocratic, legalistic, etc.

Politically Correct

To say things without offending anyone.

i.e. "I don't care about being politically correct or incorrect, I will say the truth. "

My Vista Machine: BSOD possibly related to audio driver updates

Since I installed the audio driver that came with the motherboard online, I've had problems using the windows explorer. It becomes very slow and then the Blue Screen of Death "Kernal Inpage Data Error".

So I rolled back drivers for audio and video cards. I rolled back video because while updating the audio, I took the liberty to update video as well, being not sure of whether my video driver was automated by vista or manually installed by me long time ago.

Seems to be fine now. Backing up all my important files.

Water Batteries

On reading about water batteries like the Japanese's Nopopo, I stumbled upon one of my favorite MIT physics professor, Walter Lewin's demonstration on the Kelvin Water Dropper.

Kelvin's contraption is intriguing indeed. Using gravity on a simple and smart circuitry to turn miniscule charge differences between two separate conductors into a kind of battery.

As for the Nopopo 'toy', it works on a different principle, which is similar to normal AA batteries. It can use liquid as simple as water instead of some other chemical as electrolyte and can be filled by user with water at anytime. Designed to be environment friendly, but many consider its low power a con.
