The Babel Tradition

I would equate the curse of God upone the Tower of Babel, confounding the tongues of men, to the fire burning of great libraries and books in history.

Whenever men's ego reigns, God's reaction is to scoff at them. For what is man, if he reckons not God.

Thanksgiving Rally At CCCNY

I'm surprised, I must say, that when minister Alex called for willing believers, according to his responses (since I was bowing down my head), that there were quite a few who raised their hands.

His sermon as always, had be a bit too deep and long for the general public. Someone once pointed out to me that he moved too much as well (very tiresome excercising our eyeballs like that).

All's well that ends well, I supposed. Praise be to the Lord.

I would say with all those work (flyers distribution, mail invites, etc...), roughly 150-200 showed up. Food was enough with some leftovers.

At the dinner,  I shared the gospel with one, Becky, whom Nadia's flyer went. From Becky, I learned of a Malaysian singer called 梁靜茹, or Fish Leong.

I'm still not fond of pop songs, but I should at least know some names...of the new generation...instead of Jackie Chan, Andy Lau,...who else? I'm stuck at this point.

Puritan Hard Drive

I've been coming across this advertisement from time to time browsing. Claiming people like Beeke and Paul Washer recommended it.

The Puritan Hard Drive (now $350, was once $800 and even under $300), by Still Waters Revival Books (SWRB), is said to have tons of great books and audio files. The special remark is the search tool. Which can search the whole library (160 GB on a portable hard drive) including pdf files (unless the language is old orthography). Instead of search, it is actually using a master index database and is said to display the highlighted passage of the keywords from the particular page of the particular book. This would definitely be a plus.

I've looked through the names of authors included. Very impressive, very promising. From Stephen Marshall to the most famous ones.

I can easily disregard some complaints,  but the price is still a little bit steep for me. Perhaps I could work out a deal with them or wait for some future opportunity.

The Politeness of the Chinese - Sometimes a sin

"...Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons". Acts 10:34

"I'm being nice to you, I'm being polite to you...no, not because I wish you to be polite and nice like me, but in fact, I demand your respect towards me - because otherwise, I will turn my back on you". Such is many of the Chinese's way of sociology.

That is a breach of Acts 10:34, as well as  a perversion of Matthew 7:12 (do unto others).

Matrilineality of China

On last Friday's fellowship, the subject of Matriarchy of ancient China was brought up.

Out of suspicion, I could only take notes for further research.

After a brief referencing online, I have concluded that it is a minor thing that got spinned into a whole feminist propaganda.

First, there is Matrilineality; and there is Matriarchy. They are not the same thing. Matriarchy usually practices matrilineality, but not vice versa.

Matriarchy is a female dominant society.

Matrilineality is line of descendants traced via the mother side.

Although there is a group of Chinese called Musuo (摩梭), or Na, near Tibet, practicing matriarchy, there isn't much other evidence on this subject in Chinese history. Despite some theory that matrilineality had always been in China until the Shang Dynasty some 3,600 years ago. This theory based on the fact that the word (姓) has a female radical (部首) and the pattern of the meaning/type of characters used for the surname. This is of course, just a theory.

Some theory had gone even more absurd by saying that because the cavemen weren't smart enough to differentiate sexes or know enough biology to know there is a father, in addition to mother. Evolution could teach nothing useful but folly.

Scriptural Conversation

It is always best to speak with scriptural support, instead of some moral basis. Especially at the peak of conversation, we really don't need any of Bill Gothard's twisted morality.

Is God the Author of sin?

Something like this should be easy enough to answer. Yet there is great debate over such issue.

I shall only attempt to discuss evil is to judgment as darkness is to common sense.

Darkness is often spoken of as the cursed creation. But then, we do not sleep in broad daylight.

In His creation, God set order of things. There is high and there is low.

There are greater beings and there are lesser beings.

To make the lesser greater, without the approval of God, is therefore, sin. For it is to cultivate matters of creation against God's will.

Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, Where in the Bible?

When I sang No. 4 of Elijah, "If with all your hearts" ...ye truly seek Me, ye shall ever surely find me...

I remembered Dr. Tong's "神找人,不是人找神". Of course, it is not to be applied in this context. As that reference related to those corrupt men who imagine their own gods.

Then there is this question, where in the Bible did Mendelssohn's piece is referring to...Of course, it is based on "Seek and ye shall find..." Matthew 7:7.

After a quick search, a prominent verse to support the lyrics is found in: Deuteronomy 4:29, Jeremiah 29:12-13.

Although, I wish I could find a site with all scriptural references for this oratorio. So I shall also include this entry in the Qestions category.

The Manhattan L'Abri

Just last Friday, I went to my first Udo/Deborah Middlemann open home fellowship.

I've read up on the Schaeffer case a little bit. They told me L'Abri has gone astray in major doctrine. I could tell. It seems there's the Europian factor of Christianity in all of them today. Distanting themselves from the so called 'Evangelicals' of today. Treating the Gospel mandate and Cultural mandate as one and the same. Although, I sensed Udo was keen on evangelical gospel.

I find great passion for The Schaeffer foundation when Prof. Udo stood up for a fair treatment on the 10 million illegal immigrants in this country. Hey, at least some theologians are giving their opinion on controversial topics, which is more than I could say for some coward preachers who while being great and respected even by me, hides behind Romans 13.

Lastly, there were mentioned of how when you hired, trained, prepared room and board, and provided air tickets for someone to provide temporary homecare for an elderly in Switzerland...and she called at the last minute saying she couldn't make it, thus breaking the commitment before it even started and say "I'll pray you'll get someone". I interrupted: "Tell her to pray for someone who wouldn't do that!" And everyone broke into laughters.
