The Wisdom of the Good Samaritan

Luk 10:35  And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

It is shown here not only is the Samaritan merciful, he is also just. Today, so many "nice" Christians presume that caring is good enough. Love without wisdom, without conscience, without justice is no love at all. It is foolishness, as the etymology for the word "nice" is in Latin.

We must always be conscious of our surrounding. A good deed cannot blind the sin of carelessness.

And it is even worst if one says: ...Take care of him, and whatsoever he needs, have a heart and give to him yourself, God bless you."

The Samaritan illustrated here is obviously a trustworthy fellow as well, that he will come again and be responsible for any deficit.

On Judging Others

"Acknoledging someone's weakness" and "looking down on someone" aren't necessarily the same thing.

But "refusing to recognize someone's character" and "looking down on someone" are always the same thing.

Inevitably, wisdom is a necessity for either case. Those who seek not diligently, will stray away from God's path.

As for those who even refuse to comment on someone's strength, then they are living in their own selfish world and are as proud as the Pharisees, who couldn't accept the righteousness and holiness of the Son of Man and committed jealousy.

On Will of God

God uses all sorts, whether within His grace or outside of His grace, to profit His true children in His Glory.

It is possible that a pastor is not saved. But God can still use him nonetheless. And nontheless, the annointment of the pastor is not to be taken lightly, whether he is saved or not saved, ethical or unethical, moral or immoral.

A visible church may fall or not with or without a pastor.

God may even uphold His annointment on an unsaved, unethical or immoral pastor to a point where He allows evil to enter some members of the church so that with all their hatred at heart and justification excuses they will kick this pastor out and be used somewhere else. For it is definitely better than the pastor (saved or unsaved) staying in a dying church and ending God's use for him there. And that those members are prevented to affect other sheep in other pastures with their faulty ideals since with the pastor gone, their will is fulfilled, they are sure to stay in their own pasture, at least for a while.

If that is the case, my prayer shall be that some learn their lessons and some be saved in God's mercy, and that I see all these through in all righteousness and holiness with God's mercy upon me.

Killing Geese for Public Safety

According to this article, I learned that NYC and other states have been killing geese, the Canada geese, due to geese over population and public safety. Some preferred a non-killing solution.

I've noticed the increase of geese lately in the New York/New Jersy areas...especially where there are nice pastures.

I have no problem with killing geese, but perhaps more study is necessary indeed in such matter.

How not to be deceived

Who they are is so much more important than what necessity they can offer, that one should not even include the latter in consideration.

On Socializing

It is not the same as Jesus' ministry. For those who gathered to Christ and heard Him in true relationship did so in truth for truth; While socializing is acheived in vainity for vanity. And those of the latter often consider theirs as of the former in order to accuse those who are not of their herd.

Laptop Replacement

This entry is overdue. Went fishing last Saturday, at Stony Brook with a colleague's ride, two Koreans at one of my works. Bad weather. Annoyingly inconsistent rains, stupidly brought my laptop (Always bring my laptop just so I don't waste time on the road, but never used it this time), laptop appeared to be partially soaked. Never turns on for more than 2 seconds anymore. Regret, regret.

Just ordered a $290 used one from Ebay, replacing my formal $800+ Fujitsu Lifebook P1510d. Cutting thin on savings. But what must be done, must be done. That notebook had served me well for the past several years. Boy, has the price dropped.

Venue was supposed to be a much closer, Oyster Bay. Only fishing intended. Not buying some Korean food to cook at site.

Lessons Learned:

Salesmen are vain people in disguise. Even in friendships. No need to give excuse next time, just give direct answer next time: "You go fish yourself, now that you've learned how to fish". Or, "I'll be fishing at Oyster Bay around such and such time, come if you want".

I'm still too much of a softy.

Laptop is not life.

For them, well at least the excuse is that they learned how to cast their lines. For me, stupid, stupid, stupid Tim.

This guy has been wanting to hang around with me since I borrowed him the office key very early one morning because he had forgotten to take his home and he's the first one who's supposed to be in the office.

"A friend in need is a friend indeed" - That's vanity's view.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. (Luke 6:31)

Comment on Catholics

How can I have problem with something that's ambiguous, save the ambiguity itself?

It is uncertain what the general Catholics follow today. God? Pope? Saints? Church? Peace? Niceness? Void?

Christ is the only way. We define everything else from Christ according to the truth, the Scripture alone.

Daily Devotion: Psalms 32

Psa 32:2  Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Hence, it is hinted here that the Lord imputest not iniquity first, and then "in whose spirit there is no guile". Illustrating that God's grace comes first.

The Future of Food

After viewing "The Future of Food", I have finally grasp some idea about the protest of BT, biotechnology. (Films are always one of the most effective ways, if not the only most effective way, of presenting a message)

No doubt, the greed of patent pursuers is most despicable especially when means of justification were used as excuses.

Not only the diversity of agriculture has been affected by BT companies to extinction since the permission of patenting organisms, the new genetic use restriction technology (GURT) AKA terminator gene technology is just outrageously unethical.

Another note is the mentioning of third world country hunger having nothing to do with production of food in the film, but was actually caused by having to grow expensive exports to pay back huge loans which would not have been possible by doing local farming. Thus, independent farmers become overwhelmed by industrial monopolization.

Every good film as a good ending, or solution. Thus, this film ended with the good news of "organic" labelled farming products.
