Mercy and Truth

Psa 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Here is the contrast of "Mercy" and "Truth".

In Psalms 25, we learn that God's merciful nature does not excuse us from sins. Some have the most perversed thought as to believe that by just WILLING to say sorry, he or she should be forgiven-because God promised so...or why wouldn't Jesus Christ's salvation be accomplished right after the fall of Adam if this salvation is the plan all along, as if the perplexity since the dawn of men's fall is undeserving. Such questions do not disturb me, but what does is when these are asked by Christian leaders directly or indirectly, not to give answer but instead to show how lacking they are in seeking God's Truth.

Many Christians have forgotten that mercy and truth work hand in hand. One cannot obtain mercy if one is not truthful, and neither can one be merciful if one is not truthful.

We pray for God's mercy, we beg for God's mercy. Some would twist the verses of Psalms 25 with their untruthfulness so that they can believe they DESERVE God's mercy and therefore viewing David's request as a hidden demand instead of a cried out hope.

Curry Mee

"Chap Biu Kali Meen", that's what I usually get when I decided to get take out at the corner of Kissena Blvd. opposite the Flushing Library. I wanted to tell the cashier that they only gave me noodles and soup the last Sunday, but after making sure I got what I really ordered today, I figure there's no point. Of course, one would expect them to give me some extra in this one, but I just don't need those bonus compensation anyway.

With the "Chap Biu", I usually let them pick the ingredients arbitrarily. I supposed everyone expected someone to would do the same last Sunday and my plain noodle soup meal went straight into the hand of the wrapper while I rest my eyes.

How to Turn Off Mouse Scrolling Wheel in MS Access 2003

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278379 has it. Both options: 1. Using dll, 2. Implement everything from Access VBA.

There's a catch with this all VBA method, everytime if you visit the VBA editor, you need to restart the whole database, or else the mouse will freeze from time to time.

True Evangelists

A TRUE EVANGELIST who loves or does a lot of Gospel Rallies is one who is eager to preach even to one, at anytime.

There is no such evangelist who does ONLY a lot of Gospel Rallies and be true to God.

There are however, evangelists who does ONLY a lot of Gospel Rallies.

Origins of Extremists

I think one cause of Extremism is impatience. Seeing others taking shortcuts while not able to patiently warn or advice them, so an extremist approach is taken. This impatience could be a mixture of jealousy and pride. Once ensnared in this exremist behavior, the pride and jealousy would be there to make sure one stays that way.

Another cause, which is paradoxical to the above, is by failing to react quickly towards certain problems. Now this is the trickiest one, for it requires a very holy soul to respond in a quick and accurate manner, or else, the disaster is usually very disturbing.

3D Printing Opens to Public for Less than $3

What's done expensively will always become cheap unless the short term social side effect is far too great.

And again, Americans though claiming to be world's top tech, has less to say about this particular breakthrough. I supposed they are busy fencing higher walls and finding ways to make the recently overflowed National Debt Clock look like they care.

Institute in Basic Life Principles

I attended a video lecture by Bill Gothard on Anger Resolution the last weekend, Friday-Saturday.

There are some reminders, even some contradictions/vagueness between worldly anger and rebuke (I would rather he had not tried to lecture on verses or anything pertaining to rebuke), but I don't see anything deeper than that for myself.

However, I believe he shared too many testimonials, as if he's influenced by prosperity theology.

Nonetheless, the IBLP institute offered another course "Financial Freedom" by Jim Sammons, which I find very insightful. Especially chapter 17 on "Avoid Business Partnership". My pastor had kindly borrowed me the DVD/Textbook pertaining to this series.

Let Not Many of You Become Teachers

When the Apostle James warned the brethren about this issue, I'm sure
it applies to even today's EQ "evolved" human beings. Today, everyone,
especially the young adults thinks they are immediately Bible teachers
just because raised their hands once during some Revival Meeting. To
make things worse, they are encouraged and pushed to teach and lead
without having a theological relationship with God first. So they use
autonomous, humanistic relationships to build their little empires of
faith.

I was asked to teach the children's Sunday School not long ago at my
current church. Not that I'm not excited to be given the opportunity to
teach the young minds in the word of God, but I felt a great
reluctance. Not because of negligence, but because of the over-ready
and over-eager behaviors of the one incharge handing over this precious
task to me. "How much did she know me?" was all but I could think of.
This went on for 3, 4 times.

Today, I went to see the Children Sunday School during adult worship
service, as I had agreed. I have decided that I will not take this job,
although I have not told her yet, but will tell her next week.

At lunch time, I tried something when she told me she would teach
WITH me, thinking that I may be afraid or something. I must watch
myself to becareful. As the authority given me is restricted, and she
is much advanced in years than I. I asked her if I must use the
teaching materials provided. Questions began to emerge from her which I
believe is good and about time.

When one relies on teaching materials too much, one is restrained by
other people's methods. And people's methods could be erroneous, or
inadequate. But then, how can one teach? for the other option would be
one's own method and everyone knows the statement "By God's Way" is
often understated by those who misunderstood the Bible and wished to
take shortcuts. In the end, it is still the teacher himself who must be
specially called to this purpose and the methods displayed around him,
are merely references.

Of course, my main point to her was "are you sure you want to trust me with this?" And I will turn down the offer because since she has the time to take some time out to "teach with me", she might as well teach the class herself.

Nonetheless, there are times where it is necessary for those who knows nothing more than
following other people's methods. If that is the case, I'd rather do
cooking or cleaning, which I did sign for. I believe I have a great deal of
methods and lessons to learn in cooking.

As far as children are concern, I believe God has plan for me, but this is not the time.

Choosing a Bride in America

I believe there is but one more important criteria apart from the obvious one. That which has been deteriorating in America today, is the girl's attitude towards her father. It should be examined thoroughly in the context of Honoring Thy Parents. If her father has passed, dig in deeper.

This practical application could even be extended to determining co-workers.

All the above, is particular in America, due to its heretic culture.

MS Access Advice on Lookup Fields

In Microsoft Access, It is a good practise not to use "Lookup" column at Table Level. Lookup feature is best used with Forms.

This would avoid problems such as unable to call the right field from a lookup column, as it usually returns the primary ID key. It would appear that there is no script that can call Table.Column(2), etc. in Access. But Form.Column(2) is doable.

If damage is done, it is best to convert the table's "lookup" fields back to text or other "normal" fields. Using nested Replace() functions in Update Query should be the last resort.

This comes from my experience creating NYGC Student Database System.
