Business of Freely Received, Freely Give

After coming across an Ebay seller, Bob Allgood (ebay handle: bibletruthforum) linked site: http://www.bibletruthforum.com, I realized I should create a site for similar tasks except that the donation part is optional with FREE downloads, and lower costs for shipping, on Ebay too.

I just can't stand seeing people using free resources (such as in this case: http://www.ccel.org/) to make more profit than they should, while accusing others of selling at more expensive price and claiming that "...The charge for this CD is really for my labor and production cost to compile it. I wish I could afford to give this CD away free – but I can’t...."

Psychological Problem in Pentecostal Churches

One great mistake many Christians make, especially during preaching, is to blame everything on Satan. This charismatic influence has penetrated into the community of conservative evangelical Christians.

The key goal of the Gospel is to make us see that we are sinners ourselves. Not blaming it on Satan.

First Week

Yesterday marked my first Sunday in the city to visit other churches extensively.

First stopped at First Baptist Church in Flushing (9:30am Chinese), and then it's Chinese Community Church in Manhattan (12pm Chinese), and then it's Times Square Church, largest church in New York.

My personal favorite would be Chinese Community Church, calm, steady and prudence. Even though it has the least attendants comparing to the other two. While one would say the morning session of the First Baptist Church would be more suited for youth, I'd say I don't believe only new modern musics can attract the younger generation. Something I have always envisioned for a while now. Perhaps I should attend the 11am session next week, to get a better understanding of the church.

As for Times Square Church, they had a very good guest speaker, who's American born Japanese, married to a Jewish, with 2 children, now citizen of Israel. Pastor Peter Tsukahira's illustration of God's work on the Israel nation throughout history is most impressive. I find it admirable that all the pastors of that church have to sit on stage and listen to the sermon. I supposed it is the format of the church, so that the pastors are students from time to time. Some churches that have more than one pastor, would never allow the pastors to participate in listening to God's word with the congregation. Moreover, many pastors rather go preach than be among the congregation, as if their only christian "duty" is to give sermons and lectures, as if they have already known others' lectures and sermons that they do not need to waste their time sitting and listening. In a way, I am proud of seeing an Asian preacher having such an impact on the American community. However, I also find Times Square Church's pentecostal influence disturbing. It isn't the charismatic atmosphere that disturbed me, it is the entertaining element. We must always be careful in discerning that which is of joy, and that which is of entertainment. The problem with pentecostal churches is they do not discern this. Joy is the happiness in TRUTH, in WISDOM and in the Presence of the Lord, joy is everlasting. Entertainment in the church is self-satisfactory in disguise of joy. It is not everlasting, it needs creative boosts from time to time, like drugs. I was reminded of one instance, when someone suggested to Rev. Stephen Tong if his church's music should use the charismatic musics instead of "boring" church hymnals, his reply was "absolutely NO!". I supposed I could imagine how it would like, for a church to have creative, active, charismatic type "gospel musics" combined with good sermons, yes, it could draw crowds, but at the same time, we would have submitted to the need to entertain. We would have submitted to something that is not of the everlasting value. Perhaps Pastor David Wilkerson has focused on drug addicts and criminals so much that he has underestimated Satan's work against him. He's a great pastor, no doubt, I must keep praying for him and his mission.

An Unexamined Life is not Worth Living

Psa 119:71  It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

Salvation to Family and Friends

There is no doubt, that there are people whom we think are closest to us, may NEVER be saved, no matter how much we believe them to be, no matter how hard we convince ourselves of their salvation. Nevertheless, it is not our duty to guarantee anyone's salvation, for we are not the Savior, nor is it our duty to damn any souls to hell. It is our duty, nonetheless, to pray, to reflect on ourselves, so that we ourselves are right with God, and to help those around us to see the sovereignty of our Lord, the kingdom of heaven, and the salvation of Christ.[@more@]

Sermon Plagiarism

It is one thing to quote great speeches of great preachers with the intention of profiting others; it is entirely different to plagiarize someone else's great speech in order to make oneself famous, well-loved and using such moment of fame to act out hypocritical humility.

It is remarkable, I thought I have seen the worst. But after seeing someone calling himself a student of Rev. Stephen Tong, co-working with STEMI organization as well as the Reformed Seminary headed by Rev. Stephen Chan, turning out to be a phony in all those positions, while the only result of his fellowship with those is his using of their materials for his own personal gain. Trying to be as humble as possible, he couldn't hide his true face.

It is like when you felt a fish caught on to the hook. I have been debunking the so called "ministainer" concept we see in many churches today. They have perverted God's message with entertainment (entertainment and humor are two different approaches) stealing passages from their "secret" sources, instead of sharing their resources, for they wish to direct the credit to themselves.

It is rather sad. Should one repent from this, he needs to pray hard, truly set some time aside for studying God's word.

USB Devices Not Recognized, "Unknown Device" Status

Thanks to Bill Posters at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=576507

I finally solved my USB problem after researching for a solution for 3 hours.

here's the excerpt from Bill's post:

" Pretty much exactly what happened to me. 6 USB ports on one pc all stop working. Devices all work on other computers. (XP Pro)

After going thru mobo manual, looking for driver updates, un-installing devices & re-installing, troubleshooting each port etc etc, I was considering power management options, BIOS tweaks etc then found the following.

SOLUTION:

Power off pc. Remove AC power cord from pc for a few seconds. Plug back in & reboot.

Something to do with residual capacitance/current I am led to believe. Seemed too good to be true when I read about it, but it sure worked for me."

Come to think of it, I can't believe it's this simple...felt like an idiot wasting 3 hours for such simple solution. The same solution I knew and had used before for other types of problem.

A Sanctified Place

A Church should be a place where souls can be sanctified. A sanctuary for sinners, not a sanctuary for sins.[@more@]

Martha Martha

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part...Luke 10:42

Everyone heard of the story of Martha. They were taught lessons from the story. But one thing many were afraid to teach: that Jesus neither appreciated nor accepted Martha's serving. Because we must listen to God's word first, before we know how to serve.

It is a good thing that Martha spoke to Jesus, so that her way was corrected. Otherwise, the harder she worked and labored, the further she would fall from the word of God, The Way, the Truth and the Life.

The Grace of God Misunderstood

Many evangelists feel the need to help God out in explaining God's "cruel" actions towards the human race in the old testament.  This is wrong in Biblical understanding as well as motive.

God does not owe us His grace at all. What's done in the past is done in His perfect, sovereign, absolute righteousness. He does not need to show us His grace. He does not need us to explain how "not cruel" He was; for if we do so with the assumption that He was even slightly "cruel", our explanation will err biblically, because unrighteousness does not proceed from God.

As for God is Love, therefore He MUST RESPONSIBLY send His Son Jesus Christ, this statement is erred in such way: As if God needs to send His Son in order to prove His Love. God does not need to prove His love by sending His Son because God is not bounded by any of His creations, including time itself. God sent His Son because it has always been His perfect display of Just and Grace. So that when Jesus came, we know that it is the long awaited salvation since the fall of mankind, in this matter, we come to understand God's love. We must understand God's love, from the perspective of a merciful God, NOT from the perspective of taking sympathy towards the suffering of Christ. Indeed our Lord suffered the greatest turmoil for our sake, but He is never to be sympathized on, we are the ones who need His mercy. (Luke 23:28)

If we bring others to Christ by making them feel sorry for our Lord on the cross, they will never see the truth, they will never have the right relationship with God.
