Embedded codes for ulterior motives could be viewed as viruses/trojans, but this is certainly a project worth looking into. Digitally farming the whole Earth the most effective way of this time.

The No Photo Posting in Public Policy

A matter of privacy? A couple of days ago, I learned that the reason the pastor is very adamant about no photos or videos of church members in public viewing (online) is due to fact more than just the general privacy issue.

It is because in China, Christian persecutors could gain access to these sites and identify their targets who have returned to China.

I thought of this issue for a while. A bit challenging, but my conclusion is: I can certainly abide by this rule. However, it doesn't mean that it is right. I have no need to post these photos not because I don't want to be a rebel, but simply because there really is no necessity to post them despite every right I have to post them.

In regards to the principle, I would say it is an unbiblical one. Because in Roman times, the true Christian value is not just against unwisely exposing the faith of Christians in hostile public, but also to not deny their faith by suppressing evidence or proofs of testimony. Jesus says: Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven...deny me before men, him will I also deny...(Matthew 10:32).

The first thing to identify a Christian is as simple as just asking the Christian, not to find photos to prove it or not, if the Christian did not lie of his/her identity. And if churches or pastors are teaching their China visiting members to lie back home, it is despicable.

If it were me, I would keep praying, find a wise, righteous solution, which often times is revealed by God at the right time, at a time that shows God's glory. The wicked hates this. They want to know the solution right away before calling it "God's glory". They want it their own way (so that they will be "blameless" in public) before calling it "God's way".

Patented Evangelism

I predict patent trolling will be the new form of Western Gospel Evangelism. This is why I cannot associate with any "ministry" that does not preach to strangers actively. What they do now is: support others (but not themselves) to preach, act as if they like to preach themselves, preaching to only friends and people they like, assuming that they are preaching by welcoming curious parties at churches, and not believing that it is what they are required to do.

Defamation

Or slander, involves communication of FALSE information leading to a loss to the victim. In addition to this, the legality of this crime is only valid if it involves more party than just the two (slanderer & victim).

I told my wife today defamation is only an accusation that involving a loss to the victim. I was wrong. I hope to be able to clarify that when the opportunity arrives.

Beginner's Robotics as a Hobby

Slashdot has a good thread on this topic.

Based on common poll, Lego Mindstorm & Arduino are the winners. There are others which I cannot cover here and now, after all, it's Slashdot.

Human touch in the Church

A: 教會一定要有人情味!

B: 那你就完了。

A: 難道教會不准有人情味?

B: 那更糟糕!!!

教會如果靠上帝一定會自動產生正確的人情味。

Weekly Journal

Last Sunday, CCCNY Choir sang "Epilogue of Praise" by Joseph Martin. A nice hymn. I noticed what I didn't when I sang it with the choir before: that the line "...And when all words have been set free..." is not theologically sound. As these words, referring to God's words, is not to be set free since God's words weren't trapped in the first place. I'd rather "...words have been decreed".

During the sermon, Alex mentioned Hershey's great Christian act was to shutdown the chocolate making machines in order to create more jobs for people. I've yet to find any more information online. However, denying machines in favor of creating more jobs for men is not efficiently sound. Jobs are always there, in one form or another. Technology is mere tool for convenience, it is the lazy that forces people out of jobs.

The other thing I learned from the sermon was that Buddhists have this use of phrase "落入文字障" to despise "logic" of men. In this case, it was the 一貫道priest who had a debate with Alex. It is similar to 2Corinthians 3:6, however, in this case, the monk used it to avoid contradiction of his religion (Bible and Quran cannot be both holy books) brought on by Alex.

ixthys / ichthus

means fish in Greek. The fish symbol was used by early Christians (of Roman Empire) to identify each other secretly during the persecution of Christians.

Some supposed the word comes from "fishers of men".

A more reliable source is the initials of "Iesus Xristos THeos Ymon Sotir" = Jesus Christ Son of God Our Savior.

As famously loved as he is because of his gift to reach out to youth from orthodox perspective, Francis Chan has a cheeky side-The balloon incident.
