China Burdens Africa

First it was America. Now it is Africa.

China and India, most populous lands among all nations, could easily handle low wage, while others could only blame their inflation on these countries? With China, I would say communism did help a little, to prepare its nation to face something the other developing countries are now facing and yet finding blame on others for it.

Americans don't become chubbiest nation for nothing. What about Africa?

"China is exporting unemployment." - Stewart Jennings. By not lowering rates of wages, you are importing unemployment actually.

Blame could go round and round. But the nation that strives hard is one that's going to survive.

2012 marks highest drought in USA. But according to the chart, I see this happens every six years or so.

Preaching is duty of all Christians

Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter. - Charles H. Suprgeon

If someone asks me: Why do you want to preach?

I shall simply reply: Because I am a Christian.

Should they respond: Then are you saying we are not Christians?

I shall simply say: What do you think?

Thus my facebook response to where I learned this quote:

I sometimes wish people would ask me: Why do you love to preach? or want to study at Seminary?
So I could simply reply: Because I am a Christian.

Instead, they always think about whether or not to support me financially. Sigh.

Kyocera Taskalfa 6500i Finishing grayed out

At NYGC, both copiers couldn't do punch from computer. Settings under Finishing tab are disabled/grayed out for Staple and Punch. Although features work fine on the printers themselves. Emailed tech guy Brian from MattNYNJ.

Solution:

Go to admin's printer properties -> Device Settings -> check 4000-sheet finisher...

Done.

Teaching Kids Programming

When Brian asked me to teach his seven year old son computer programming, I was reminded of that question people asked on slashdot: what materials to use for teaching computer programming to kids?

While teaching Brian C++, using pretty helpful online resources, I have seen a few interesting suggestions for kids. Arduino would be fun (I'm learning myself), I would go with LOGO, since I'm more familiar with it, as it was my childhood course my parents sent me to as well.

So we use MSWLogo. Though I've heard there are plenty of clones out there.

And it is good to collect projects and course materials for these.

Redeemer Worry

What worries me sometimes about Redeemer NYC is as a whole, it appears more socially focused than theologically. The very few I've noted to have better theological ground are Pastors Tim Keller and Abraham Cho.

Wavy Video Screen

At Ping An Lei's.

Machine: eMachine T6524

Monitor wavy screen.

Examination:

Monitor problem (unlikely).

Software driver problem (unlikely - no settings work on frequency/refresh rate).

onboard graphic card problem (possibly).

PSU power supply (possibly not functioning properly, causing magnetic disturbance).

Attempted solution:

used a generic video card PCI, doesn't work. No screen. Forums suggest to find very specific compatible cards. PCI-Express also mentioned on forum, but looks like ordinary pci slots to me.

or change PSU unit.

Details of machine googled.
