Serious error one could make about how to judge others

Last night's Bible study on John 7:40-49.

It is not the first time I see this kind of error in judgment from Elder Lyna. First, it was Mel Gibson. She had to discredit Gibson's Passion of Christ on the account of his future misdemeanor. That is not to say that she was impartial with everyone in this matter. It would appear that those whom she already "supports" will get all sorts of passes by her standard. Now, on the passage of John, because nobody stood by Christ on the cross, Lyna discredited everyone's view on Christ prior to the passion. v.40 - 49. Including the ones who hinted Jesus to be the Prophet or Christ. This kind of discredit is due to the misunderstanding of the dwelling of the Holy Spirit between the Old and New Testament (temporal vs. eternal). For the Holy Spirit is Promised to the Apostles and the believers thereafter, dwelling with them forever. Also, the misunderstanding is caused by jealousy and pride (If I am not perfect, then nobody can be perfect! Hmph! NOBODY WILL BE BETTER THAN I, IN BOTH GOOD AND EVIL!) - To which my response may simply be: You crazy! What are you talking about?

Scripture Reading - Mark 1:1-13

Sermon - Baptism in the River - Rev. David Bisgrove
Second sermon in series: Light in the Darkness: The Glory of Jesus in Mark

Notes: Off topic as usual. Bisgrove mentioned that Genesis 1:2 was interpreted by the Targum that the Spirit was like a dove. I couldn't find any evidence of such except that the word רחף means the brooding of a bird. So the "moving over" the surface of the waters is not seen as wind, but as a brooding bird. According to John Gill, and Keil & Delitzsch who also taunted the idea of gap theory.

Offertory - String Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 458 - W. A. Mozart
II. Menuetto and Trio. Moderato

Hymn: Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart, music by George Croly, 1854, words by Frederick C. Atkinson, 1870

Redeemer Sunday Service W83 09:30AM Service 2015-01-04 Sermon by Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi

Reflection:
We can, perhaps, train ourselves to ask more and more often how the thing which we are saying or doing (or failing to do) at each moment will look when the irresistible light streams in upon it; that light which is so different from the light of this world - and yet, even now, we know just enough of it to take it into account. ~ C.S. Lewis, The World's Last Night

Unbelievers may know about spiritual beauty by hearsay - may even be able to make fine speeches about it ... But to the regenerate [born again,] God has given a glance ... and there breaks in upon the soul a heavenly sweetness, such a sense of the amiableness in holiness and an excellency in God and a sweet loveliness in Christ ... He sees by a new light that was never before let into his mind. ~ Jonathan Edwards

Scripture Reading - Isaiah 60:1-5;10-16

Sermon - Light in the Darkness - Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi
First sermon in seiries: Light in the Darkness: The Glory of Jesus in Mark

Notes: Impressively, Mirtolooi reminded me of the true nature of the eventual kingdom of God. I've heard Alex stressed on this before. That Heaven, is going to be a very physical place, not merely spiritual nor ethereal. Mirtolooi hinted that it is also slightly mysterious. Mysterious indeed! To help us investigate this further, he suggested Fuller Seminary Richard Mouw's commentary, that I am unable to find (hence I added this to the Question Category so I shall inquire him directly since he has no working email that I know of).
However, key verses are in Isaiah 60. And it also speaks of the glory of God as the source of light instead of the Sun.

Dream: Primary School Teacher

Some strange dream happened around the beginning of the week.
It was in a classroom, that looked like my primary school standard 6 classroom.
I was sitting on the left (from the instructor's perspective) side towards the front. Some student (I cannot recall who) in the middle alerted me to another "student" who turned out to be my standard 6 teacher Chin Lai Leng sitting across the classroom a little further back, asking me for deodorant.
Then, I think I woke up.

The Calculating of the Solar System

It always fascinates me what Kepler came up.

The challenge now is to figure a way to put this on Pebble, a watch that my wife gifted me on last Christmas.

Scapegoat

Azazel. Lev 16:8

Etymology: Tyndale's translation of the verse.

Now, people erroneously used it as "the one to be falsely blamed on".

The truth: There were two goats. One will die, the other will be let go. The one being let go is the scapegoat. Signifying the duality of Christ by some. However, they have now thought that it was the one that will be sacrificed that was the scapegoat, or worse, that they did not realize there were two goats to begin with.

Comforting Abortion

Not long ago, I heard a reverend spoke of a very depressed woman due to her abortion.

This reverend's counseling to her was: Don't feel bad, that is Satan's lie.

Two serious errors I in this type of counseling:

1. Don't feel bad? Sinning is something to not feel bad about? So admitting this as a sin was just a lie than.

2. Satan's lie...What if it was the conviction of the Holy Spirit? Wouldn't that be calling the Holy Spirit Satan and making Him a liar?

This shows the serious flaw in psychiatric counseling today, even within the Christian community as this reverend has claimed mastery in this field.

This problem stems from the fact that one cannot tell "ignorance" and "moving on" from the sin apart. And then, put the blame on someone else - the most accurate target would be Satan.

The best answer to give, I believe is this:

Jesus died on the cross for the sin of abortion too!
