有號稱自己為基督徒的,但沒有,也不願意傳福音的人,豈能體會傳道人之苦與樂?
他們只不過懂得說。。。“傳道是很苦很苦的,盼望教會的一些奉獻金送給些傳道人。”
It would appear that whenever it concerns science, there are plenty of professors/instructors who are adamant about an irreligious viewpoint. They could do the science, but when it comes to basic theology, one would wonder how could they suddenly become so dumb.
Yesterday, on counting stars, my astronomy professor, David Kiefer, brought up God speaking to Job about humans not able to count the stars. I couldn't find such passage. But perhaps he was referring to Abram in Genesis 15:5. There is no statement on human beings not able to count stars. Even so, if God really has to challenge, it would be about all the stars, even within the fuzzy nebulae and beyond. On the other hand, if it is so, God could also challenge us to count the stars as such hobby is built into our natural curiosity and to not pursuit such science is an ignorance against nature.
By the way, God has counted the stars and calls each of them by name, so it is not impossible to count the stars created by the very Creator. Psalms 147:4.
So I'm sure there's no offense taken by the Lord on this. Only on the ignorance and poor reading.
After reading Dr. Mitch Glaser, some of the issues I have been wondering about this Jews for Jesus movement has become more transparent.
That is not to say that I am against this ministry under Christ. Their commitment to evangelism is still quite remarkable.
However, their push for identifying Jews as a superior key in God's kingdom is disturbing. They do not have "church" service, they have gatherings. It also appears to me from the article that they do not like the verse "not all Israel are Israel".
Is Glaser saying that all Israel are Israel? Some of us even got confused as to what exactly is a Jew these days. I've seen Chinese wearing Yarmulke and considering himself Jewish. I've also heard that Jews are those who could trace their bloodline to Abraham. So is it about ethnicity? choice? or something else?!
It is more of a national (Israel) pride for Glaser to stand on his view.
Hosted by Redeemer. I got myself involved in the Q&A for the first time, and first time having Dr. Keller answer to me directly.
It was a great host. Though I admit I understood only 60% of the unscripted play. "Cat food for breakfast" was the title given by the audience for them to perform on the spot.
Then they talked about how Christianity fits into their art. How they sacrifice themselves for others to look good, a kind of life after death experience.
I had to ask. How Redeemer is involved with them and if there will be future events of such. Dr. Keller was the only one answered, though I addressed my questions to all 5 (3 actors, Keller and John Lin). As some already knew, the answer was simple, that Dr. Keller's niece was married to one of the actor...the founder of the Improv. Shakespeare Company I think. And that Redeemer was supposed to have hosted quite a few of these. I am not sure about that.
From some of Keller's response, I sensed that it was as if I was questioning whether it was proper to have such theatrics associated with church events. I already agreed with Keller.
I enjoyed it. It is congruent with Redeemer's vision. Tim Keller personally address the topic. It was great.
Thanks to Ravi Zacharias. I learn of this satire:
Just have well managed and enough sleep.
With enough sleep, proper detox will be executed. I need not find sources, because it is a laughing matter when a PhD student cannot figure out how period of sleep has nothing to do with the time of sleep.
It is said that we need to drink a certain amount of water, that is 8 cups, a day. It is said by yoyos and quack doctors.
There is no scientific evidence to back up such claim.
And those yoyos who claim to be Christians have to call Moses, Elijah and even Jesus a liar.
Exciting!
I found out today that the library offer virtually private (2 per room) reservation room equipped with computers. One either has to sign in at front desk (IT help desk) or go to webcheckout.ccny.cuny.edu, which takes 5 days for me to be registered.
The room is so warm that I almost fell asleep during the first hour. Perhaps I am old? No, never!
Student clubs are interesting. I'm curious at physics, chess (I cannot find it even though help desk said it exists) and even CCF (Chinese Christian Fellowship).
I've registered for 4 Rounds of fun. Because I also want some money $2,500.
First round questions: (One week left)
Problem 1
How many different (non-congruent) triangles have integer side lengths and perimeter 2014?
Alcuin's Sequence is the hint. A detailed explanation. Thanks to JM.
Problem 2
You have 2014 identical looking coins and a two-pan balance scale with no weights. One of the coins is fake, but you do not know whether it is lighter or heavier than the genuine coins, which all weigh the same.
Describe a procedure to determine in the minimum number of weighings whether the fake coin is lighter or heavier than the others.
Pile them in 3s or 2s. Looks like all these can be googled.
Problem 3
A fair coin is tossed repeatedly until 3 heads appear consecutively. On average, how many times is it tossed?
This is kindergarten level.
Problem 4
There are four knights on a 3 3 chessboard: two white knights at the bottom two corners, and two black knights at the two upper corners. Show how to switch the knights in the minimum number of moves so that the white knights are at the upper corners and the black knights are the bottom corners. (Knights cannot land on each others squares during this process.)
I need a board. But this is supposed to have been solved: Guarini's Problem
