Airport shutdown due to Science Projects

This has gotta give a good laugh for the extremists in the East. "The war is over and we won", is probably what's in their mind.

TSA at Texas airport arresting 11 students and a professor, seen in the video.

Moments like this make me wonder about the possibility of a class action suit.

Story of the Day

After visiting a client in Brooklyn, so I went to my usual favorite middle eastern restaurant around the Atlantic Ave. area. I favored the spinach soup.

Wanting to eat simple this time, I ordered just the soup and basmati rice...the cost...$10. I was expecting somewhere around $4-$6. I am not sure if it was because of the price, the soup just doesn't taste like it used to. It was rather bland and lack saltiness. Though I didn't ask, but I am quite sure the old crew has been permanently replaced...even the old 'manager' who always think I'm muslim and called me brother has been absent for a while.

For my own dietary, I should look at making these soups myself.

The Choicest Spoils of Abraham (Top of the heap) Hebrews 7:4

Only in Greek, it is shown this, that Abraham gave the best...the first fruits, to God, to Melchizedek.

Of commentators JFB and Barnes, Albert Barnes had it the clearest:

...The Greek word rendered here “spoils” - ἀκροθίνιον  akrothinion - means literally, “the top of the heap,” from ἄκρον  akron, “top,” and θίν  thin, “heap.” The Greeks were accustomed, after a battle, to collect the spoils together, and throw them into a pile, and then, before they were distributed, to take off a portion from the top, and devote it to the gods...

Thus, Hebrews 7:4 is the only place of the whole Bible is this term ἀκροθίνιον used, aptly observed by the Chinese Union (上等之物) and NASB translation but not the NIV nor KJV.

Debunked: King's Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4) presumably Solved

Rybka programmer, IM Vasik Rajlich, has solved this opening, scorned by GMs such as Bobby Fischer.

Since the total possible moves from this opening is still beyond our technology today, the solution is theoretical within very very slight error, using 3000 parallel processors.

Conclusion: White cannot win. The only move to draw for White is 3. Be2.

Looks like the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings has to scrub this opening off the volumes, or it would need a separate sets just on this opening.

Update 7/15/2014: Actually, even chessbase admitted that it was a joke for April Fools. Shame on you Chessbase. One needs not take your articles seriously anymore, better late news than fake ones.

In Spirit and in Truth

The passage John 4:23-24, has been viewed by John MacArthur that the word spirit, is not meant the Holy Spirit, but human one.

I've searched through a few commentaries, because I remembered a while back, a pastor Stephen Chan, was one whom I first learned that the word spirit in this passage here is referring to the Holy Spirit, because men's hearts/spirits are in errs often times. So, from this sense, it makes perfect sense. The ones supporting this view, would be Scofield (using v. 24 to justify his claim) and Robertson's Word Pictures (who take both sides).

To reject completely the link of the word as Holy Spirit, is, I think, a bit shallow. I would have to give Robertson credit, for we do have to worship in Spirit, that is in accordance with the Spirit of truth, which is the Holy Spirit, which would result in a genuine worship of our souls.

To say that it is right about the Holy Spirit but this passage is yet touching on that subject, is, I think premature. Just as the premature interpretation of the Elohim "We" in the Old Testament not as trinity but as plural majestic. Just because the mystery is yet to be revealed, it doesn't mean that the subsequent revelation never applies, especially that the mystery is declared by the Lord himself.

Photorealistic Illusion

An email forward from my father on the artist John Pugh, reminded me of much inspiration we could do with our walls. I had thought of just mere classical paintings on walls and ceilings, but Pugh certainly brings this kind of art to a higher degree.

Restaurants have been using mirrors to change their limited interiors into virtual grandeur. Pugh's idea definitely brings out the usefulness of art in a pratical situation.

Chuck Close's photorealistic arts are realistics, so are the ones on the trucks, but when I saw Pugh's, I wish I own at least a wall...wait perhaps I could do as I please...a door...some small corners of my apartment...shhh...

Is Jesus' Body created?

(Continuation of this entry will be deal with at: The Incarnation of Christ (Person) entry Jan 9, 2013.)

This has spawn a few debates in the christendom.

I remembered Alex's take on Dr. Tong's issue on this. Which Alex later concluded that he still respect Dr. Tong for "admitting" he is unsure of any conclusion, as a humble servant. And from there, my dear Minister Tseng went on with his deep analysis on Christ's human body, of which I am unable to follow and must humbly refuse to further this debate, for now.

This does make me recall, of one Witness Lee (李常受), whom Dr. Tong strongly attacked on his "createdness of Christ's body". Even Larry Pan (潘良佐) AKA 陳鴿, also attacked Lee's heresy. A recent research shown. I shall paste it also in my comment sections, since I notice lately, some external links in my entries are dead.

To me, it is still a mystery, I would put it just as Rev. Tong would "...如果他的身体是[被造的],那么他整个身体是自己造的...那他到底有分于受造的部份,或是受造的部份有分于他呢?" I call it mystery because I'm not saying for sure it is created nor do I say it is uncreated. it is beyond my understanding. I'm simply saying, do we really know that much about philosphy and physics to judge such a standard? Obviously, I, Timothy Law, don't. Which means I have much to learn. In the mean time, I am ready to be sharply criticizing those who have taken this doctrine too far, left or right.

File is too large for destination file system

When transfering a dvd iso file (larger than 7gb) to USB drive (or any external storage), there is this error message: too large for destination file system. It is usually because the external drive is using FAT32 system, which has a limit of 4GB maximum file size. It has to be formatted as NTFS. The second choice would be to split and rejoin the files, I would rather one formats it.

This is thanks to http://helpdeskgeek.com/help-desk/file-is-too-large-for-destination-file-system/

Ukraine Rape Case

When I saw this news, my first thought was that I wish to be a missionary in Ukraine. Watching the video, understanding only the word "I don't know" repeated by Oksana, I am reminded that there's so much I could do, so much I have slacked.

I should be doing something here, right now.

There are times, while meditating this, I thought I was still racist. The East Coast poverty are affecting largely the minority: Blacks and Hispanic communities. I would have more sympathy toward the whites so far away? No, it is the poverty whites. hardly in America, but the old Soviet...I don't consider them Europeans...they are Asians! In fact, there are offsprings who look like Chinese or Japanese while the parents are both whites in these lands.

Unfortunately, I do not have enough association with these. I can only have remote empathy. Drawing a line before my imagination carries me away too far, on what I know about this culture.

And the news on sex slaves, how these were decent girls from Bulgaria got tricked, by women (to gain better trust), by people they know, to 'better' countries, and then got black mailed, become victims of the godless, it could be harder to solve than it seem. The trust could be quite legit, since it is on their relatives or other women, and there are viable proofs that there are those who "succeeded" (modeling, fashion, acting, etc.) in those developed countries.

Now the communist party is thinking about re-enacting death penalty on this kind of rape crimes. There are outcries of justice, since of the 3 men, 2 were released without charge on political connection.

I could sense from some the hatred towards the criminals. I'd say, however, that this kind of hatred is not good. Sometimes when we empathize on someone so much, we felt guilty because we believe we were so helpless...as if we could have done something. So this guilt is transformed to an unhealthy hatred.

It is true, a lot of times, this guilty feeling is legit. For we on much occasions do not care enough, even in the littlest thing. We see injustice everywhere, but we walked away thinking: Oh, it's the parent's business, it's not my business, it's not a big deal, in time it will be fine, ...

That is just the passive point. As for the active one, do I preach? Do I obey the culture mandate according to my Lord? Do I do these enough? No, this is not just about the act: "just do it", but without study, firm theological foundation, the best intended counseling could be of the Devil, and Satan be their father indeed. How could Bill Gothard and the likes of him go around converting people to be "Christians" so easily by simply telling them "I apologize for the christians of the world to you"? The answer is simple: he and his kind works for the Devil. They want christianity to submit and bow down towards their shallow methodology.

I could only cry I have owe God so much. I must study. Study. Not do. But study and meditate first. So that when I do, I do it with the right heart in God. Not like Uzzah, but like Elijah.
