On Talks of Intellectual Properties

People have been debating on the ethic of downloading something for free.

With permission, without permission, copies, artist's livelihood, etc.

While I acknowledge the good act of paying for a CD or download; I am also aware of the fact that these are copies, ideas, non-tangible.

Therefore, I believe it's always an on going debate due to the fact that one side is always not balanced. Those who cared, seek to solve the balance. And I think the key is control. Tangible objects can easily be controlled. But things like ideas, music, well, we say download and CD now, but would anyone go as far as charging one's mind or voice for singing an artist's song without permission? Do I need to pay everytime I hum "Somewhere over the rainbow" or quote from a book? It is ridiculous because we have yet any means of control to monitor these situations or one's mind. It is more of a matter of making money than ethics or invasion of privacy.

A quote I once thought upon

Came across a high school student's quote who attended my church and in my Sunday School class (sometimes) on my facebook. I hate to admit it, because this kid is a bit "hip hop" type, but he is right in this observation.

"too many ladies stuck up from too many sexual advances."

It is easy for one to conclude this especially in cities such as New York. Where supermodels walking around certain many streets and wannabees everywhere. New York City is one of those cities famed for fashion models, designs, etc.

I would just like to add:

The way ladies...and perhaps even guys are stuck up, is also due to watching too many movies. Sexual advances are also shown in movies.

Those who make sexual advances are result of men's sense of irresponsibility.

Those who are "stuck up" are result of feminism equility right.

Consequently, more confused people, more gays, more autonomous acts and rebellious pride in the guise of self-righteousness.

Layoffs vs Job Ban

I once heard about Malaysia's plan to ban medical degree due to doctors overload, I supposed it would be a preventive action against current economic status. In a away, I would say it's better if compared to the New York City teachers layoffs based on reversed seniority...demonstrations would follow.

I'm sure there are plenty of other solutions...still, it's a solution to a culpable result. Thus the solution, however creative, will never be satisfied by sinners, because any good solution would be in the form of a punishment of which the partiality is often shifted. Balance must be kept.

Slip-on shoes.

My favorite, very convenient, cheap, suitable for any business. $20 is the cheapest deal I could find.

PC Tower as Shipping Box

The Taiwanese, ASUS, has done it again.

Major motherboard manufacturer, now double the function of PC case as motherboard box.

Environment friendly also. I was troubled by the mass production of PC towers and disposal of old models. Why didn't I think of a solution like that, instead of worrying myself...fire hazard?

Illegal Immigrant in Church

Interesting Article from ChristianityToday.

The way I see it, it's a 50/50 vote in the nation, perhaps more friendly on the Christian side, especially the evangelicals. I'm no bias, but this is one thing I favor of the evangelicals, since everyone's income depends on their hardwork, not birthright, something I've always believed. And land property is merely as much as one has true control over, content should not be denied.

The article also links to several verses:

Exodus 22:21  "Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt.

Exodus 23:9  "Do not oppress an alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be aliens, because you were aliens in Egypt.

Leviticus 19:33  " 'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him.
Leviticus 19:34  The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 27:19  "Cursed is the man who withholds justice from the alien, the fatherless or the widow." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

versus

Luke 20:23  He saw through their duplicity and said to them,
Luke 20:24  "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"
Luke 20:25  "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

1Peter 2:13  Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,
1Peter 2:14  or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

WHR-G125 Router Crash Red Diag Light Stays On on DD-WRT

It was a long time dilemma at NYGC. Students would complain lost of internet either in the lab or wireless. I would blame it on P2P downloaders while trying to solve the issue. It had gotten worse when staff has to manually power off/on (reset) the router, Buffalo WHR-G125 running on DD-WRT firmware, about twice everyday during school hours.

Yesterday, I came across a site about how WEP wireless security is unstable. So I changed it to WPA2-AES Personal encryption method. Seems fine now. Uptime has been 1 day 5 hours and 42 minutes already.
