Where in the Bible that says you should preach in the streets?

Yet another street preacher arrested in Europe.

In the video, a supposedly Christian woman ask: What does the Bible say about standing in the street shouting?

I think the preacher was not prepared...as I would not as well, so he quoted the great commission instead.

But in response, there are plenty of good answers:

1. Matthew 10:27 (preach upon housetops is a good equivalence)

2. Matthew 12:41 (Jonah 3:4-5 is Jonah shouting in the city)

3. Acts 8:4 (Everywhere could include public area such as streets)

Many verses on preaching in towns, villages, that I am sure, involves "shouting" in the streets.

Of course, one could easily find answers to questioning the woman's motive for asking that.

Things of the world and Things of heaven

Php 3:18  (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Php 3:19  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Php 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Book review: "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan

Notes of interest:

pg. 48: Stan Gerlach. A guy who died immediately after giving a speech at a funeral, saying "You never know when God is going to take your life...". Chan illustrates how fragile we are.

pg. 63: "God doesn't need us but wants us; We need God but doesn't want Him."

pg. 66: Why Jesus spoke in parables? So that those who weren't genuinely listening to Him wouldn't get it. Authenticity of faithfulness tested.

pg. 71: This lukewarm profile chapter is good stuff. Especially on page 71 regarding believers who do not want to preach to neighbors. (Answers Rev. Lin's question on Where in the Bible that we are commanded to preach on the streets - Nobody is saying go to the streets, it is clearly an excuse for not wanting to preach to neighbors)

pg. 77: They [lukewarmers] ask, "How much time should I spend praying and reading my Bible?" instead of "I wish I didn't have to go to work, so I could sit here and read longer!". I would object that one must enjoy work, for it is work for God, and not wishing not having to work. Neither should it be compared with reading the Bible at the same level, so one needs to manage one's time well to have both work and Bible reading.

pg. 86: With all the questions "if I do this, can I still go to heaven?", it shows that our concern is more about going to heaven than loving the King. If you love me, you will obey what I command (John 14:15).

What a day

Prometric's system is making me re-test the microphones more than usual today (TOEFL iBT test). The main suspect of course, is the fact that I'm using wifi on all stations ever since the room switch.

I finished checking in everyone in the 10am-test at 11am instead. This would be the third time or so I felt so embarrassed, but the first perhaps frustration (with the system). I just have to get the Ethernet lines in ASAP. The wifi is incredibly slow thanks to last week's downgrade of the router broadcast channel.

With this kind of errors, there must be always a minimum 2 hour preparation window.

The comforting thought is that I've finished preparing Dr. Tong's DVD last night for this Sunday. So that means I must stop by the church today to drop the DVD off.

Tomorrow is a long supposedly close but yet not so close friend's wedding. He seemed to follow strict biblical principles, unlike his surrounding friends or people he hang around with. I can only pray for his lone walk with God, which will not be corrupted by this world.

Affliction

Psa 119:71  It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

The Importance of An Evangelist

I'm speaking of a true evangelist. Not those whom people put a title on. I'm speaking of someone whose zeal for preaching the Gospel is so great that he is willing to sacrifice all, even his good reputation.

I'm not talking about someone who is perfect. He could easily be angered, harvest jealousy, etc.

A true evangelist is the beating heart of a church. Without him, the church is as good as dead.
